Half cover / travel cover for the Nomad

Next month I'm taking a trip down to Savannah. I'd like to take a half cover with me to cover up over night. I did a little looking and I'm thinking of the "UltraGard® Classic H - Half Covers" http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partscovers.htm Any experience with this cover, or anyone know of a better one? While the Geza looks really nice, I'm really not looking to drop that much money for something I won't be using too often. I had a Tour King on my old Concours and while it worked, it wasn't too great.

If it makes a difference, I have a Clearview windscreen, the one that's a little shorter than stock.

Thanks,

Louis

you can buy a full cover at wally world for $20. Works great and does the job. why pay more?

Don't really know anything about half covers, but if you're going to cover it why not the whole bike? Frankly I don't get it. I say pick up a full bike cover from wally world for about 30 bucks. The one I have is just nylon with re-enforcement around the bottom including felt for the windscreen. It does the job and can be packed away in it's on pouch small than a coffee can.

Louis-

You might want to give Doc's idea (buying the Wally World cover)a thought. I was planning on buying a nice cover also but a neighbor of mine that has 5 bikes and ran a local Honda operation suggested I did not buy anything fancy...in fact he encouraged me to buy a cheapie.

He said thieves are looking for the most expensive bikes and accessories to steal...fancy covers give it away. If you are one of a group and the rest have fancy/expensive covers guess who will get hit first? I bought the Wally World one...actually not a bad cover for the price. I bought Extra Large (1500cc and smaller)...fits fine.

No guarantees but might give it some thought.

So the moral of the story.....by a cheapie but encourage your riding buddies to buy the expensive ones!

Good luck

Half cover / travel cover for the Nomad

I'll try to stop at Walmarts if I get a chance... which department would I look in? But I thought the Half-covers packed up a lot smaller. The last one I had I could pack up into about the size of my fist. I took another look at the Tour King (they have a picture of one covering a Nomad http://www.tourkingcovers.com/OLD%20FILES/nomad.html) and it looks more sturdy than the one I had 10 years back. Still, I'll try to hit Walmart if I can and see how far down I can pack it. (I'm bringing several things down with me, so I'm trying to be as space conservative as I can)

Usually in the automotive section, a small section sometimes with the atv stuff or near the trailer hitch stuff

I use the WW $20 cover too. I also use a smaller one for protection from rain or sun. It called "Cycle Shade". It folds into it's own pouch that measures about 6"x7"x2". I always have this one on the bike, whereas I plan when to take Wally's cover. It fits and ties to the Nomad well, and I have an upright backrest.

Half cover / travel cover for the Nomad

Louis,

The Wal Mart one comes with a nylon bag and will pack into approx 12 x 9 x 6. Someone actually thought to include a bag big enough to get the cover back into it. Be careful as they carry two brands. One has a tiny bag (white) the one I bought had a dark blue bag, dark blue cover, w/silver material for protection around the exhaust.

I found mine on the very bottom shelf across from the car seat covers in the auto section. Not easy to find.

Half cover / travel cover for the Nomad

I have both a half cover, and a full cover. Both have their good and bad points. The advantages of the half cover is it is easier to put on and take off, offers good protection from dew, no moisture condensation, and don't have to let the bike cool down any before you put it on. the one I have is THIS ONE, They've gone up a little, but it does have the soft liners to protect the windshield, and trunk.

THanks for the info guys. I have a Dowco and for a $100 cover I'm not impressed. It's starting to get holes in it after 1 year.I'll be looking at getting another shortly.

Half cover / travel cover for the Nomad

I have a Dowco Ultra super-duper Guardian cover. I bought it because the trees near the bike area at work drop little green turds all over the place and the landscape crew with their leaf blowers cover my bike in dust on a weekly basis. I hardly use it though, because I have to wait for the pipes to cool, then go back downstairs and outside to cover it, etc., etc., etc.

I'd really like something that would keep the sun off my seat and keep it from fading the speedo and such. I might look at a half cover now because it would probably be more practical in my situation.
