Yesterday morning I walked out of the house with my helmet and jacket in hand to ride to work. Its was very foggy outside so I stood there for a minute to think about whether to ride the bike in or not. My heart said go ahead and ride, I rather enjoy riding in the fog and its been a week since my last ride. A little voice in my head said don't do it! So I went back in the house, put up my helmet and jacket and waited for my wife so we could ride in together in our Escape.

About ten minutes later we headed out on our regular bayou side ride to work down Little Bayou Black highway. 15 minutes into the ride we see flashing blue and red lights up ahead around a curve in the road.

When we get to the scene we see an Ultra Glide on its side pretty torn up and a panel van a short distance from it with police, ambulance and emergency workers all around. We can't see the rider but it doesn't look good.

Well, today's issue of the Houma Courier has an article about the motorcycle rider with his name. He died of his injuries later yesterday in the hospital. He was passing a car in a no passing zone and the van up ahead of him was making a left turn into a school parking lot. Just a stupid mistake on a foggy morning.

Listen to the little voices that talk to you. We're not all crazy when we hear them........Bear

Was a dumb move...

It makes me cringe everytime I hear a story like that.

More than once I have listened to that little voice. I have always been glad that I did not ignore it. I agree with Mike, I cringe when I hear of something like that happening.

I'd rather ride in the rain than in the fog. It's harder for you to see and even harder for them to see you!

Sad story indeed. I try not to ride in the fog if possible.

They have no passing zones for a reason...
