Dyna bead follow up
I took the liberty of writing to innovative tire balancing. Their response and my original e-mail follows.
Jim, Yes, his son is correct about Sand (powder, etc) inside tires. This type of material is very irregular, has sharp edges and is extremely abrasive to the inner liner. Any product that is not perfectly round will have this problem. If you want to see why this problem occurs, take a look at the Fleet page and the photo's that describe this problem with competitors products. Powders and mixtures of materials will wear the liners because they slide inside your tires, they don't roll. Any time something slides, it creates friction, and wears the surface, like sandpaper on wood. All new tires have rubber dust from the manufacturing process inside. The beads will knock these loose, and some rubber dust may be visible, but because of the perfectly round shape and the smooth exterior, Dyna Beads will not cause abrasion themselves. The Beads may discolor from the liner from rolling on it. We have never had a complaint of Dyna Beads causing abrasion inside the tire. Whoever the customer is, would would appreciate a phone call so we can make an effort to satisfy the customer and get this resolved. With about 500 miles on the new tires every time the tires warmed up I would get a vibration like I lost a wheel weight. After fighting it for several rides I decided to take the front wheel off and really check it over. I might be out of my mind but I convinced myself that what was happening was that when the tires got warm static electricity was building up and the Dyna Beads was clumping together causing a balance problem. So I broke down the tire to vacuum the Dyna Beads out but when I looked in the tire I was shocked to find the tire had a large amount of rubber dust inside of it. The tumbling Dyna Beads where eating up the inside of the tire. > > When I told my son about what I had found he said, " I could have told you that would happen. I have now worn out Four tires with dyna beads as the balancing media and I have never had a problem with them being worn out from the inside. As far as I'm concerned DynaBeads are the way to go.

Thanks everyone for helping to unmuddy the waters regarding this product. I plan on using them this winter when I go you-know-where.

Those Dynabeads are about the size of the tiny little pills in a Contac cold capsule. They are very smooth, I couldn't see how they could damage the inside of a tire.
I was skeptical too, but they really work, and work well. Hey, there's some people that think we're nuts for running a car tire on our bikes, too.

Jim, it's great you got a response and it's nice that they want to talk to the watchman. I am a little frustrated that they haven't responded to either of my inquiries. Did you send your iquires some place besides the "contact us" spot on their website?
I have emailed twice now asking if they have a endorsement from any motorcycle or motorcycle tire manufaturers or if they have an aknowledgement from any tire manufacturer that indicates their Dyna Beads are at least safe for use in tires. I guess it's possible that all the tire manufactures would be unwilling to endorse their product even though they supposedly extend the life and improve the performance of the tires they are installed in??? But it would be nice to know that they had atleast tried to get their product evaluated by someone in the tire industry and what response if any they had gotten. I have gotten no response to my inquiries?

Trosco, I'm bettin' it's because you frame your questions in a "Legal" response needed request. Asking for "endorsements" or other acknowledgements from manufactures of tires of them is putting them on alert maybe that any answer they give you will be viewed as a Legal statement from them.
In my line of work I've learned what NOT to say nor give "full acknowledgment" answers too.

Flavor: thanks for the Carol info. I called to ask about my inquiry and had to leave a message. Then I got the response I have attached below.
Each person can interpret the response how they choose. I am disappointed by it. Tire manufactures do recomend lots of things that extend the life and safety of their tires. Proper balancing, alignment, rotation every 6000 miles, proper inflation and regular inflation checks and so on. None of those things make the tire manufactures a penny but they recomend them because they improve the performance, safety and life of their tires. And BD, the inquiry I sent is attached in her response. I included the Continental question because I plan a Conti Vanco 2 195/65HRx16 ($127.90) for the back of the Nad this winter. Because of the mass of the CT compared to a MT I think proper balancing will be very important. This is the latest Website Inquiry: Email: trosco@aol.com Located us using: Internet Forum Question: I am considering your system for my motorcycles (2) (Bridgestone tires) and my pickup (about to buy new Continentals). I have read a lot of differing opinions on your product. It would seem that tire manufacturers would really know better than anyone how your product functions as a balancing system. Which tire manufactures have endorsed or recomended your system and for which of their tires? Hi Tom, Tire people don't recommend anything that will better the life of the tires, ha ha they want you to buy more tires. Seriously, if there was a problem with a tire you remove the product and return the tire. Dyna Beads doesn't leave anything behind like the liquids with chemicals or the Powders that are abrasive and had excessive dust.
