Front axle removal

What kind of tool do you use to remove, replace and torque the front axle? It appears to be a 22mm hex.

Does anybody make a socket with a 22mm hex bit in it that could be used on a standard 1/2" drive torque wrench?

I checked, the spark plug tool seems to be a pretty close fit.

22mm is about .86 inches and the outside of the spark plug tool is .845. That's about 21. 5 mm.

Looks like it will do the job.

Thanks!

I'm sure if you wanted to buy a 22mm 1/2" drive hex bit, you'd probably have to get it from SnapOn, Sears might have one.

Found a 22mm 1/2 drive socket external hex from SnapOn. Whoo, it's expensive, $29.50.

I reckon I'll try the tool in the tool bag first.

Yep, Snapon tools are very expensive. My son is a diesel mechanic and when he tells me how much he spends on a set of wrenches or screwdrivers - it's unbelievable. You'd think Kawasaki was selling them.

Here ya go Bob,
http://pitposse.stores.yahoo.net/noname7.html
and it will work on just about any axle out there. I got the steel one and it fits nice and sung and works real well. You can either use the 3/8 drive in the end, or put a socket on the end.

I made a tool from a bolt and 2 nuts jammed hard up to one another. I added a bead of weld to it, but didn't really need to. Just use a grade 8 or like bolt marked '88' if you use a metric bolt.

I am not so sure i would want to use the thin wall took kit socket for the axels unless I was in a tight spot. 80 foot pounds might ruin it.

I used a piece of hex bar sanded down to fit and a 22m socket. I think it was 7/8" hex bar.
