Nomad Insurance cost

Looking for some guidance, have a brother who just bought a 2002 Nomad up in Mass., looking for a insurance co. with good rates and are decent to deal with on claims. He's thinking of Progressive, who just started doing business there. Any thoughts?

I didn't do too much researching, but I'm insured through geico. I have full coverage with a $500 deductible and $1000 coverage on accessories. I'm only 24, but I have a perfect record. My coverage cost $360/ year

I'm at about $800 a year with Progressive for the toys. Full coverage on an 07, plus $3000 for accessories run $385 a year, and my wife's 95 Sportster is $200 and and an 03 Honda ATV is the rest. I don't think that's too bad for living in the murder capital of the world.

I pay $75/month for the Nomad through American Family for full coverage 50/100/50 (I think). They already had my home and auto business, so I just went with the path of least resistance. I have a clean record, but I am told insurance for bikes is higher here in part because we can ride 12 months a year.

Please pay attention to the amount of uninsured/under insured you purchase. If you do have an accident, you want to make sure you have sufficient insurance to cover you. The person who hits you will most likely have state minimum or nothing at all. I would not buy a policy unless I had at least $250,000 uninsured/uninsured. In the event of severe injury or permanent injury, $50,000 is just not enough.

You don't want to live in Ontario and pay for insurance. Im paying $490.00 a year for PL&PD only. Full coverage would be $829.00 and thats for our shorter season when the bikes are parked for at least 4 months of the year. Id like to do a 6 month policy, but they don't offer them anymore. Snowmobiles are even a bigger ripoff here. Prices seem to vary a lot by depending where you live.
It might be worth moving to Utah, by the looks of the prices there.

I also live in Ma. Full coverage on my 07 Nomad is around 600 thru Arbella. In the winter months I drop it to bare minimum which for the year would be 191. I have all my vehicles and house with Arbella so I get a discount. I have been satisfied with them but I would shop around and see what works for you. Insurance is a necessary evil. Personally, I don't trust any of them. :-/

I live in Alberta, and I paid $618 (about $500 US) for full coverage ($250 / $500 deductible). Just dropped from $644 when my agent moved me to another company because the one I was with (Jevco) is on the verge of bankruptcy, a victim of the financial meltdown.

Hmm, I don't feel so ticked anymore. I paid $350 for the past two years on my '06. This year they jacked it almost $200 to about $530 for the year. I'm living in PA and have my truck through Progressive as well as the bike. I am going to ask why I went up though. No accidents and no tickets.

I used to live in MA and had insurance through Safety. I will tell you one thing, you cannot compare MA coverages and prices to any other state. They are heavily regulated and most insurance companies won't insure there. I've found very little difference between coverages and premiums across the board with MA companies. I finally settled on a comapny due to thier reputation and customer service.

The moved me to Echelon General Insurance Co.

Check into Jevco yourself as well, your agent may think differently, but if they go, you loose your insurance and premium. :(

Sent you a PM as well

Massachusetts auto insurance was deregulated a couple of years ago. There are alot more companies to choose from now. You can actually shop around for a good deal. Insurance rates have dropped. Before deregulation the rates were set by the state. There were very few companies willing to do buisness in MA and it was the same rate with every company. Now there is competition and it has greatly affected rates. Competion is a wonderful thing!

....Ok, I'm gonna be sick listening to some of the great deals on insurance. Today I bought licence and insurance for the Nomad. For basic insurance, I paid $616 for coverage from now til Nov. 3. This is mandatory insurance purchased through our rip off government insurance company, and I have a clean driving record with no accidents. On top of that, I pay another $400 per year for private collision coverage. Insurance here for my car and truck is double what I was paying in Alberta. Ok, my blood pressure is starting to come back down now!!
