It's supposed to. According to the service manual there is no adjustment of the cable. Basically, it says if it doesn't work replace the cable.

You may want to find the end of the cable where it attaches to the "choke lever" (this is what the manual calls it even though it's not a choke) on the throttle body. If you pull the knob out and the "choke lever" doesn't move the cable is probably bad.

....hey nomad
If your cold idle solenoids have been removed, the fast idle not working is a common thing. Check out this Gadget page for the answer to your problem. I have the same problem, but a throttle lock solved it for me. :)

Have to pull mine ALL the way out and a little more or it does no good. Don't need it for long and only on the first start of the day. By the time I back out of the shed it's warmed up enough.

For shame! Storing your Nomad in a "shed". (Just visualizing a stereotypical shed) Scary thought. I'm sure yours is not. ;)

Nomad you will need to pull your fast idle knob ALL the way out then it should work. You push it in 1/4 inch and its OFF. that knob will work regardless of what you do with the ISC solenoids. :-)

Here in the northeast this is a shed. What is wrong with it. I stored my Nomad in it last year. ;)

Stereotypical? Not even close....

20x20 mostly open air, cobbled together from left over construction material or salvage. Only partially closed in on 2 sides, cutting off the worst of the weather. Enough to protect the nad from hail. Roof (metal) has at least three colors. There's enough salvaged metal laying around to finish closing the gables and one side. Spending too much time working or riding. As cluttered as most of it is, there seems to be plenty room around the Nad. Our other vehicles have no cover.

One thing I've noticed with my "fast idle knob", is that if you turn the throttle and hold it open WHILE you pull the knob, then let go of the throttle before you hit the start button. It seems to work better than when you just pull/jerk the knob out.
