Idle knob won't turn

I have tried to turn the black idle adjustment knob but it won't turn up and feels like I will break it. I can turn the idle down but not up. Any ideas?

Jeff on my 07 i had to take cable out off braket, pull down straight so knob by oil cap and then turn clockwise and there was still a lot of resistance before it moved. a little easier after first move but still very stif

They tend to seize up after a while, spray it with a penetrating oil, and work it a bit, and it should free up. I usually remove it from the bracket so the cable doesn't have such a bend in it and it turns ok then.

Also crack the throttle a little to relieve tension off the throttle body and the cable will turn easier..

I had just posted about the same issue recently. I pulled down on the cable a little and mine started working. It was very tight at first, but now it works well.
I still have to fine tune my TFI, but now the idle sounds about right.

This is what worked for me. I slid the black knob up back a little and put a wrench on the bolt. The cable tried to kink a little so I held it tight and it finally adjusted.

Your welcome mncruiser: I discovered this early on as mine wouldnt turn either like alot of you guys. Slide that black plastic knob up and then turn the nut with a wrench and a little lube and it will work smooth. Once done return the black plastic knob and slide the whole thing back in the metal holder. :-)

I am so glad I found this forum. I had same problem, I pulled the adjuster out of the bracket holding it and stretched it back toward oil port and it turned. I cracked the throttle, with the engine shut down, a little and it adjusted much easier. Thanks Guys!
