Amber running lights

Last vacation I passed a bike in Oregon with amber running lights in his light bar. Man did they make him visible. I Have an 06 Nomad with a Cobra light Bar running 25w halogens. Does anyone know where I can get either amber bulbs or lenses for the Cobra bar? JP Cycle, in their vintage Catalog, has amber sealed beams for the older Harley's. I don't want to go to all the hassle of rewiring unless I have to. Thanks and Keep up the Kick-ass forum.

I think the easiest way to get amber driving lights would be to pick up a pair of 4411A amber sealed beams. If you've got 4-1/2" housings, they should fit right in. They have screw terminals on the back, so you'd have to crimp some ring or spade terminals on the wires. These are commonly used for tractor lighting, and they should be available at NAPA for $6-$8 each. They last a long time, too.

Yeah, I think so...I'm sure Trip will stumble on this thread and verify.

Seems that somebody would make a amber filament so a person could just open the Cobra spot, dissconnect the white filament, put in a amber one and done. Anybody know of such a bulb with the wire on it like the stock Cobra spots?? White filament are only about $8. ???

I've never seen an amber halogen lamp. Doesn't mean somebody doesn't make one, but it's doubtful.

Hmmm...passed over this thread because I thought it was the same one about amber driving lights we started a month or so ago....my apologies.

Yes Jerry, I do have amber running lights and I like them very much. Not only does it give me better vision at night, but during the day, everyone seems to think I'm a cop and many pull over to let me by...LOL. I bought mine from J&P, but what CJ is suggesting is probably the cheapest way to go.

I searched around and found a place in Canada that has 55W amber bulbs.

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/p.../products.html

Read the introduction at the top of the page and then scroll down to H3 "55W CPI Gold (produces selective-yellow light): $15.50/ea " If you click on words "selective-yellow"there is some interesting discussion.

I also found a place in the UK that has free world-wide shipping.

http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=89

These are also 55W.

I think that this is the thread Trip was referring to. It's worth the read Jerry.

Let me know if you find them at NAPA. I went there today and they found the 4411 clear beam but not the amber beam. They didn't have any record of a 4411A part number.

A big thanks mericanbike for the link for the yellow H3 bubs. These are 55W where my Cobras are just 25W so not positive they won't pop fuses. I have my Cobra light bar hooked up per their instructions and its been great for 2 yrs.

I don't know if this place has what you need but they have just about every bulb out there. It's autolumination.com.
