Skid plate
Knobby tires would be even more useful than the skidplate.

And a supercharger for MORE POWER.
Can anyone draw up a picture of this new monster? It may be a good idea to make it a three wheeler also. More traction and less likely to tip over in the sand. LOL

Especially for Dan.
![]() For a gravel road it is deceptively smooth the first several miles. As it starts to climb toward Engineer Pass, 12,800 ft, it gets progressively rougher. Do take the camera, the scenic views gorgeous. Recommended minimums. Normal people ::) use stock 4x4, quads, off-road bikes, etc. There is a hole in the middle of the road at the top that is often filled with a foot or so of water. The bikes and quads can normally go around it. With stops for pictures and just to enjoy the view the average speed will be about 3 mph. I believe the Nomad has 5.5" of clearance. With the knobby tires there will probably be a bit more. Might want at least 7" of clearance just to be safe. Leaving early in the morning it might actually be possible. ![]() "Your mission, should you decide to accept it...", there should be photographic proof of the Nomad out on the point at the top of Engineer pass. "This tape will self-destruct in ten seconds." ![]() ![]() ![]() A couple of very nice restaurants in Silverton. Handlebars for a good steak. Romero's is a very good Mexican restaurant.

This poll got me unexpected, and made me laugh hard when I read it :)
Markg, the most difficult road that I've been on in Colorado so far is the dirt road above George Town. I'll have to check the one you are referencing out on the map ( though the map can be deceptive as I found out :) ) |

I'll confess what I really thought when I saw the poll, but before I clicked and read it.
I saw that it was Caddman that made the poll and I thought, "hmm, maybe Caddman is seeing if there is enough interest to start making a skid plate for the Nomad." I thought to myself, yup, I'd maybe buy one. Funny how your imagination can get away from you :) |
