Clearview Windshield
I installed my new 23” Clearview windshield today and it works and looks great.
It has the re-curve, with vent and its clear not tinted. With the OEM shield I had extreme buffeting at anything over 65 mph so much so that at 70+, it would blur my vision. Now with the Clearview I went to 80+ with absolutely no buffeting; felt like I was only go 45-50 mph with the old setup. I could have gone without the vent because it does not have back pressure. I would recommend this set-up to anyone that is looking for a way to eliminate the head buffeting. ![]() Dennis Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Clearview makes a quality product. I have the 9" windshield on my fairing (light tint) with the re-curve, and it blocks wind better than the 12" shield I used to have.

Dennis, tell me about your shield. I am in the market. My '00 oem is geting a little foggy and I can't get rid of it anymore. The buffeting thing has my attention as well. Do you have a part # and web site or is it just clearview? Thanks mucho.

The part number is GT23 with the re-curve. I purchased it from their web site. I have the vent which allows a small amount of air up on the inside of the shield like a defroster vent; this may be why I have no back pressure. The vent they use is an OEM Honda part from the Gold Wing.
The shield is thicker than the OEM and of much better build quality. http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=46 Dennis |

At 23 inches... aren't you looking "through" the windshield instead of over it?
Just wondering... ???

I have the 22.5 " with recurve & vent. With the windshield all the way down, I have about 1/4" clearance arount the light and can see over the top easily (I'm 6'). I keep the vent open almost all of the time to reduce buffeting. With the vent closed I get some buffeting, but with it open I have a nice smooth air flow.

Thanks for the input and info. Just exactly what I'm looking for. Now, if I can get your card number, I'll go ahead and place the order.

I prefer to look though the windshield, but if I sit up straight I see above. With the shield all the way up it's just under my eyes if I sit upright, I prefer to sit lower and back in the seat. I am going to try lower settings when the weather permits but I’m sure I will leave it up. I feel I will get a little buffeting if I lower it any. My goal was to have NO buffeting and the way it is now accomplished that and with the vent closed I have no back pressure.
I had a Givi with a re-curve on my other bike and with no vent it has extreme back pressure, so much so it feels like I was being pushed forward by a ghost ::) or some strange force. As for the card number I used pay pal, if you take up computer hacking maybe you can get in my account. |

I just wanted to mention this as a safety issue for those that might not have considered it; since this is an open-forum viewed by many. ;) The MSF recommends the windshield height to come up no further than your mid-nose height when sitting full-upright so you can see over it if needed. There could be a time when the shield is covered with water, bugs, etc that obstructs the view... a dangerous situation to say the least. :)

Clearview Windshield
Clearview makes a good product. I replaced the stock windshield with one after the stock windshield crazed. After three years it is still in great shape. The recurve shape has allowed me to dropped the height approximately two inches from the standard height suggested.

The OEM shield came up to mid chin when sitting back in the seat and it was at its top setting. This left most of my head to take the full force of the wind. When I sat upright with OEM it was about mid neck, the extra four inches is perfect and I’m 6’ with 30” inseam. I’m long in the body. This does not go without mentioning, I also have a big head, just wanted to be the first one to say it.
