Cobra light bar issue

Something of interest if you have a Cobra light bar. At least it got my attention.
I had a gravel truck, ???.... or maybe I should say, I had a rock from a gravel truck, take out one of my lenses on my Cobra light bar. My light bar has the bullet style buckets with replaceable bulbs and ,....I thought, replaceable lenses. Well not from any motorcycle shop in the Bellingham WA or Langley BC Canada area. So I called Cobra. "I need a lens for my light bar".. :).........."sorry we don't stock them". You can buy a new bucket with a lens though for $40 something dollars"
It just so happened that the guy I was talking to, took the time to find a used lens kicking around and agreed to send it to me. For FREE!!! I haven't had it show up yet but hopefully it will soon.
Anyone know where I might find another if it happens again? I haven't checked Princess Auto, but maybe somewhere like that might have them.

I have the F&S lights and when something like that happened to me I replaced the lens and reflector with some from Princess Auto. The reflector which holds a 55w H1 bulb fits as good as the original 35w sealed beam and was only $4.99. Replacement H1 bulbs are sold there for $2.99. And I get a lot more light from them as well.

The bulbs can be anything in that size of which there are several choices with or without replaceable bulbs. Currently i am running fluted amber bulbs you can't change the bulb in, because it is the bulb. These should be in un-fluted glass still amber as a choice as well as clear glass or fluted.

Then there should be lenses in this sixe also clear or fluted that take halogen bulbs. Is it H-3? I forget as I know the bulb by a out of date part number which once was E-3.

What ever the number, the halogens are available at 35 watts to 55 watts each so far as i know and there might be other wattages you can buy.

I am pretty sure the F&S is also made by Cobra so Steve's solution should work and Princess Auto is what, 5 minutes from you Rick?

I received the free lens from Cobra. He even sent the chrome ring it fits in, and a bulb as well. Not a scratch on it. So next time it's a trip to Princess Auto then. And if I understand you Steve, they're sealed beams? So you replace the chrome rim and light/lens???

Anthony here, we met 2 weeks ago, i was riding up with chris to canada and onto Kalispell.
I have been looking at the cobra light bar for my 08 Nomad.
Do you really like it?
any issues with fitting it in that space or problems with the windshield?
did you wire it up yourself?
thanks,

I believe Trip replaced his with the amber bulb/lense for just a few bucks each. He had a post on here somewhere once I think. Included part numbers too.

Anthony, nice to hear from you.
I had no issue with the light bar when I had the windshield. It fit with out a hitch. I now have a fairing and "strobe" and I had to make a bracket, in order to clear the fairing. But on the stock windshield,.....no problemo. Did I wire it myself??? No, I had a friend do the wiring. I have a hard time with anything electrical. Give me a wrench and I'm good to go. But electrical?? No.
It was nice to meet you and you're welcome anytime my friend.

"ridemslow" I'd like to find that thread. I'd like to try amber fog/running lights. Maybe they're available at Princess Auto.

Cobra light bar issue

Almost any auto parts store has these for around 30 bucks a pair. There is fluted lense and clear yellow lense type, both sealed beams. It;s raining and my bike is covered, so I can't measure the diameter, but that is all you need to know.

The wattage is similar and I forget which is which, but either the fluted or clear is 35 watts each and the other is 30 watts watts each.

The fluted lense throws the wider beams.

I still have the len's and bulbs from my Cobra sitting in the garage. I went with the yellow sealed beams from J P years ago! Got them on the Drifter also, I never did care for the Cobra spot len's from day one!

rewindgy, Just what and why is that? On the spot lense?? I am not really liking amber light at night, and have a white set at 55 watts each.
