Black or white?

This might be a stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyway.

Can anybody tell me if it makes much of a difference if you wear a black or white helmet in the summer? Is white noticeably cooler than black?

I am buying a new full face helmet for Margaret she likes the looks of the black, but asked if the white would be cooler. I don't have a clue as I only wear a half helmet in the nice weather.

All but the new helmet I just bought last week are black. I ride where it's well over 100 degrees for 4 months. I honestly don't know if a white helmet is going to be much cooler in my case. My new one is silver, so I'll see if that helps.

White reflects the heat & black attracts the heat. White also gets lost in the horizon much easier. Red is the most noticeable in a crowd. That being said the color is really the choice of the person wearing the product.

My silver helmet is significantly cooler in the sun than the black one. When I lived in FL it was really a big deal.

There was a study done and the results were White is easier for a motorist to see therefore safer. It gets more of there attention and stands out from the crowd. I don't know who did the study so don't ask. For all i know it could have been done by the White helmet wearers of America,

Seriously, I bought the helmet 3 years ago before I heard about the study. My riding buddy bought white helmets for him and his wife and they really show up. Soooooooo, my next helmet will be white.

You needed a "study" to figure this out? I think your full face helmet is cutting off your circulation or something.

Of course, it makes no difference to me - I'll still wear black.

I know you will probably never go to a full face helmet but the one you just bought is silver so you are getting closer to white.

Is it the full face helmet that caused TC to look like he does in his bottom right sig pic? I think I'll buy one just to lose a little weight.
