Quick release saddle bag bolts
They used to be on Ebay all the time, maybe not anymore. You could make some up quite easy yourself, go to Home Depot and buy four small knobs, cut the heads off four bolts that are the correct thread and thread the top of the bolt where the head used to be, and screw a knob on. Use threadlocker on the knobs when installing the bolt, as they tend to come loose on the bike.

Quick release saddle bag bolts
Gadget's site shows how to make them, inexpensively. They are very nice.

I'm just going to ask...do you take your bags on and off so frequently that using a 10mm wrench becomes a burden? Not trying to be a wise-a$$, but I don't see what quick release knobs buy you. Didn't we have a member lose a bag on the highway when his failed or worked loose?

Gadjet's site is likely to show shorter bolts for a 1500. You cn do the same thying for the longer 1600 bolts.
My 1500 had the quick off, but my 1600 doesn't and won't. A ratchet works well for me and isn't too much hassel.

Quick release saddle bag bolts
My 1500 had them and I loved them. Yes I had my bags off all the time for cleaning. I was hoping to find some made instead of doing it. My old ones seemed to be "production made" not put together and I never had an issue with them coming loose. Maybe I have more hand strength than others. (not trying to be an ............)
I wish I had grabbed them off the old bike, but I was not thinking about it. I was hoping somebody new where I could buy some. I will look again at Gadgets site and see though. Bill |

I take the original bolts and weld a 5/16" x 2" long piece of round stock to the head of each one and that's it. Those plastic knobs do work but can strip out sometimes.

Quick release saddle bag bolts
The only time I need my "bags off in a hurry" would be to clean the bike?! Right?! That usually means that I'm home cleaning the bike and have a socket at the ready.
No other reason to have quick release "on the road" that I could justify the feature. Especially since I've heard of bags coming off on their own, like CJ said, sometimes. Sort of like a quick release exhaust system.

I have never needed quick release bolts for the bags. Like other have said, no real need for me.
I have seen where they would be helpful when attaching the windshield buy by myself.

I keep a small tool bag in the left bag with all of the essential small metric sockets with a 1/4" drive, screwdrivers, pliers, tire plugging tools, etc. It's not very big and will get me out of a bind if I need them. Never considered installing quick releases but I guess they would be nice to have if they stay tight.
