Help with Cobra 2000 processor
I had a cobra 2000r put on my 2008 Nomad a month ago with stock pipes and air intake. I bought it used off of one of our members and the settings were 4-5-0. I noticed right off the bat that it was a big improvement in acceleration and no pinging.
Last week I put on a set of V&H baggers that I also bought from a member. Love the pipes but I get quite a bit of back firing on deceleration and downshifting. Keep in mind that I am a terrible mechanic. I MIGHT be able to change the oil, etc...someday. My questions are: Does anyone have suggestions on settings that I can try? Do I change them while it is running? Is it best to take it in to the dealership and have them take all my lunch money? I have been running 93 octane here in Florida per the dealerships recommendation and it is pretty hot here as you can imagine if that makes a difference. Help with Cobra 2000 processor
You need to marble the intake.
http://www.gadgetjq.com/smogstuffremove.htm I'm using a 2-4-0 on mine, at higher numbers, I would smell gas that stops. I wouldn't change the setting while I was riding, that that doesn't mean you can't. Maybe someone else will sign in on that one. I have no ping problem but it's never AZ hot here. Open up the intake and kill the solenoids. I haven't taken it to a dealership yet and hope I don't have to. |

Help with Cobra 2000 processor
The LAST thing I would do is take a bike to the dealer for something like that. Maybe if the dealer has a dyno and can tune it properly.
It's mostly a trial and error process. Mine is set at 4-6-0 currently, but I have an open intake and Cobra pipes. I live in AZ and deal with 4 months of 100+ temps every year. Just tweak one pot at a time, setting it back to "0", then turn it up one notch at a time, ride it, then tweak it some more. Keep doing this until you see the desired result. Then move on to the next pot. I'd be surprised if you have to tweak pot #3 at all. Oh, you can make the adjustments while the engine is running. It won't hurt anything.

Help with Cobra 2000 processor
I run mine at 4.5..5.5.. .5 I run in much colder temps and look for performance. I've tried all kinds of settings and this is what works best on my bike. I'm running cobra duals, no reed valves and a k/n filter. No pinging..excellent performance.. 330kms at 20.5 litres running at 130 kms/hr. I know the metric will mess you up..not sure what the # work out to be in Imperial...Bdog
