Caught One!!

Well I finally caught a Nomad rider in town here! I have only seen 3 or 4 but they are usually headed the opposite direction.

But yesterday I was driving my car to run some errands and pulled up right behind a beautiful 2001 Nomad (burgundy and purple) at a stop light. The guy probably thinks I am nuts (correct) because I got out of my car and tapped him on the shoulder and asked if would mind pulling over that I wanted to talk to him about his bike. I could tell he was leary...I would be to.

Well he pulled over in a fast food parking lot and we proceeded to chat for almost an hour. Great guy...sounds like he has forgotten more about mechanical stuff than I could ever hope to know.

I gave him my business card and the website address...I hope he checks in with us and joins. His 2001 only has 9000 miles, is in perfect shape, and is completey stock. He was real interested in the clutch spring issue.

I am not quite up there w/Netnorske on the "stalking" scale but I am trying!

Atta boy Greg....!! I actually saw a guy last week myself and stopped to talk to him. To my chagrin....I had already talked to him quite awhile ago, but he never got involved. I didn't push the issue and just wished him a good day. Some people just aren't into the group thing I guess....even when there is so much good info to learn.... :-/. Keep up the effort though....you never know....

I always give it a try when I see a Nomad rider. I too have always been in the car when I happen to run across a Nomad rider.

As some of you know, I looked at a local Nomad for sale here in Phoenix for a member in another state recently. The seller had no computer and had obviously never heard of KawaNOW (or any other forum). He was amazed at how much I knew about these bikes and how little he did. Most of that knowledge comes from this forum. So here this guy had a Nomad and probably thought he was the only guy in Phoenix who owned one. This underscores the impact this site (and others) makes in our lives as Nomad owners. I'm talking about the technical aspect of ownership, the social interaction is icing on the cake.

It might be different if we rode Harleys. Around here, you can't spit without hitting a guy on a Harley. But the percentage of Nomads to H-D's is miniscule, and we would certainly be in a knowledge vacuum without the information these forums provide.

I guess there are those who don't care to understand the intimate workings of their ride. Nothing wrong with that - dealerships survive on these kind of folks. But if you like to tinker like I do, and really want to get to know your machine, you need to share info with like-minded people.

I can't think of a better place than this to do it.

Caught One!!

I have swapped ends on the highway and followed Nomads for miles until they reached their destination. So far none of them have joined that I know of. I spotted another 2007 here in town a few weeks back but he was going the other way and I had other places to get to so I did not follow him. Someday.

Think I'm too pushy? nah........

Caught One!!

I've gotta get some cards for this site printed up!! Thankfully, the Forum Name is pretty easy to remember!! Someone just told me yesterday they saw a Nomad "just like mine". I SHALL find him!! If Trip's video of last years national rally doesn't get a Nomad owners' excitement level up, nothing will !! ;)
