I'm so confused.

Dan: thought about insulating the garage but too many things hanging between bare studs. :)

Waxed and cleaned the roadhouse pipes as well as the rest of the bike. :) Still took it out for about 100 miles today as we had a freak warm day.

I've used sheets before over the bike for dirt and dust. Good results. :)

Al: Since I have a garage, I have a feeling that if I roll the Nomad in the house I'll be sleeping in the garage. :) :)

I'm going to try the cover my wife got me from this summers' trip and not let it go completely to the ground and check it periodically for moisture build up.

Mac by the way, It's funny you talk about a rag in the intake, I read somewhere that someone else puts masking tape over the end of the exhaust pipes to keep moisture out as well.

Mine stays uncovered, because I ride it all year long.

Mine setting in the attached garage with a cover on it and the wife's car is outside with my truck. Long winters here in Michigan, so I park it where I can go out every 10 days and start the bike up and let it run. I keep thinking the Big Guy upstairs likes to ride too, so I remind him during the winter and maybe he'll give us a warm day or two to roll it out for a ride!

Masking tape is the devils own to get off clean.

I use rags to keep the temp change inside slower, to and to keep rodents out....

I too bring in all vinals and the battery which goes on a auto float charger.

Today was a great day to ride here in Dec, but alas the bike isn't registered now. Last day was the 30th of Nov. I was under the bloomin hood on the cage.. Mostly fixed..

Oh yeah... A light cover way high might work to keep off dust... Breathing out is the main thing... I could give a hoot about dust.

And rodents???? If there was no rodents problem which is wild here now I wouldn't have to install a timing belt in the cage, and Gwyn wouldn't be getting 3 or 4 mice a day in the house.

I either need a big a$$ed barn cat that can beat dogs up bad, or a pack of yottes....

When I frequented mcusa there was a great post....

"My bike won't start! Help!"

The guy was funny and had pics of bird seeds all over the bike, the stuff clogged the muff cans, and the intake carb box was over full, seeds were everywhere...

If you know there is mice around, stuff rags up the pipes and in the intake bore directly...
Ck the bike no less than once a week.

Do not start the bike once a week!!!!!!!!! Unless you ride no less than 35 miles..

Starting a engine for 10 minutes just warms oil and some metal... In turn you make water.

AND..... today being so warm all my auto tools were soaking wet in the closed drawers.. My anvil was soaking wet inside the barn all day...

No doubt my bike was soaked parked in it's summer location under a cover and a blue tarp.

I use a old sheet off of my bed.
It won't hold moisture and it keeps the dust off of it.

Thread Jack!!

Cuz Mac brought up the mice, I would like to expound upon their ingenuity....

We had a mice problem. Even my parents had mice that year and only that year in all my rememberance. Tried every trap known it seemed. They cottoned on to the conventional trap purty quick so we tried the plastic jaws type and succeeded once in a week so I added the sticky tube type. Worked a little better and got maybe three before they started going over and around all three types. Next were the sticky trays. Again a limited amount of success.
One in particular was positioned near a good sized space under the laundry room cabinet. Wife was folding clothes and hearing a noise, looked over in time to see the tray disappear under the cabinet. She left the room. I never did retrieve the trap but merely replaced it with another. It became quite clear that the tray that disappeared went to the research department as the next morning the new tray was completely covered in grass seed so no sticky was visible and they came and went as they pleased. We got a cat.

I store mine in an unheated shed also. I cover mine with a nylon cover to keep the dust off. I wax the painted parts and spray pledge on the rest.

More on mice.... My wife killed 3 more yesterday and then 3 more today in the house.

We store trash in the barn but nothing that can be composted.

In summer the barn was filled with bloomin mice up in the insulation. I could trap them fast enough, so I made bucket trap.

Today I went to put wet cardboar sheeting I had on the new floor in the barn outside. I tipped that carboard against my truck cap which is resting on logs. My wife has moved that trap over there a while ago. Since it has rained ::) alot, and these was another fresh kill in the bucket trap which isn't even baited!

If there is lots and lots of mice you don't want them.... A bucket trap is simple to make and will kill hundreds of mice with one setting.

I am working on a bigger model to trap democrates with. and figure to bait it with a Buck

Jim I think I put a strap on the battery, black webbing and a clip, something I would call a dog collar, but it isn't really.

Get a couple of kittens and introduce them to your dogs with care once the mouse population is under control. Hate mice. One chewed wires on my lawn tractor. No more. Though I'm not a cat person I have three outdoor cats.

Generally speaking, I feel that dust is less of a problem than moisture. I store two bikes over the winter and one over the summer and I don't cover any of them. Fortunately my Nomad is ridden year around. Maybe that means my Nomad is my favorite ride.

Well I rode the bike from the summer spot to the barn in 5 inches of snow... Maybe this week I can get the oil and filter done and a few other winter details and put the nomad away.

I'ld like cats, but the LL wants nothing to do with them.... Maybe when the mice do more damage... ??

We used to spread mothballs around certain areas of buildings or certain parts of vehicles, like the heater intake, air cleaner, etc., to help ward off mice. They don't seem to like the smell.

One winter dad put some mothballs on the floorboard of a farm truck that didn't get any use in the winter to keep mice out of the cab. We never did get the mothball smell out of the truck....

I would suggest definitely using a cover that breathes. Mine stays parked in a carport but I keep a check on the bike and keep it wiped down.
