Inner Bracket Loose...might want to check.

I experienced a problem with my inner hard bag bracket this weekend, so I thought I'd pass this along to all 2005-2008 Nomad owners.

I recently returned home from a trip. Got up Friday morning to start up my Nomad to go to work and heard the worst rattle I've ever heard coming from the right rear. It even rattled while I was at idle.

After getting back home and checking things out, I found that the inner bracket that holds the hard bag and sissy bar had come loose. I lost one of the three bolts that holds the bracket on and one of the other bolts was halfway out. Since it only takes about 10 minutes to check these bolts, I would suggest anyone owning a 2005-2008 Nomad, check their bolts before they loose one. The following pics will illustrate.

Unbolt your bags and take them off.

Using an allen wrench, loosen and remove the four bolts holding the side handlebar on. When you take the side handlebar off, it will allow one side of your sissy bar to hang free. You can only do this to one side at a time, or you will have to take your sissy bar off completely.

The chrome shield comes off next. It's held on with rubber grommets. Slide it off the two rubber grommets, then move it up a little to get it off the bottom bracket.

Your inner bracket is now exposed.

The three bolts indicated with arrows are what is holding your bracket, sissybar and hard bag on your bike. When I checked mine, the middle bolt was missing and the front bolt was halfway out, causing the rattle. Make sure that all three of these bolts are good and tight.

I also took this opportunity to clean all the parts and the bracket and fender before putting everything back together.

Once done, then do the other side. Two of the three bolts on the other side on my bike needed tightening also.
