Motorcycle Cruiser Review of 1700s

I don't know how many of you get Motorcycle Cruiser but the new issue has a very basic review of all the new 1700 models. They weren't in depth (the author mentioned none of the negatives mentioned on this forum) and only one rider reported on it (Andrew Cherney). Hopefully we'll see something more in depth soon.

Yeah I read that. I think that's the third rider review I've read. The others were in Rider Magazine and Roadbike Magazine. None have said anything negative about either the Nomad or the Voyager.

I've looked for magazines with 1700 articles but haven't seen any on our racks. Anyone got a scanner?

I have yet to see the Voyager in person. Our dealer doesn't carry it yet. That was 2 weeks ago. I just want to see it up close.

Motorcycle Cruiser Review of 1700s

Doc. Your right of course, but for the newbies reading this you can still figure out how good the bike really is from most reviews. You just have to learn to read between the lines. For example "Holds its line well" means doesn't corner well. and " The seat is outstanding for an evening's ride." means Your going to be sore after about thirty minutes on the OEM seat. It is how I figured out that the Nomad is one of the best (if not the best) bikes out there.

This is what it looks like on the Show Room Floor. Sits good and Lady Coon loved it. Of course this was the Bike Show in Dallas and not the final product. Our name is in the pot at three different Stealers here in East Texas. Still want to ride it. They told us there that the 1600 wil be discontinued.

Motorcycle Cruiser Review of 1700s

Our local dealer has already sold 2 Voyagers and has 2 more on the floor, one solid red and one metallic blue with black accents. Brian and I both sat on it and neither of us were impressed. To begin with, the Voyager weighs no more that my Ruby but Mama Kaw has put the Rogue kickstand on it and I needed help to get it off the stand. Never had a problem with the Nomads. Do not like the position of the handlebars, dislike the fairing immensely (looking at way too much crap in front of me), and just sitting in the showroom the whole thing felt awkward. We then sat on the 1700 Nomad and oh yeah, that's the ticket. Other than needing lots of bling and risers, the Noamd is still the one for us.

Motorcycle Cruiser Review of 1700s

I read the article, ponch. I found it somewhat informative, but I noticed that the writer didn't exactly seem tremendously impressed with either bike ( Nomad or Voyager ). I had the opportunity to sit on an '09 Nomad at a dealership in northern Louisiana. the thing I noticed right of the bat was that it felt like I was sitting much further forward. I also felt like the bike was taller than my '07. The sales person told me the belt should be changed at 15k. I prefer a shaft drive, but that's just me. I didn't get to ride it, so I can't comment on that. Just my observations.

I sat on a 09 Nomad this past weekend, and Painless you was right it does sit higher. also I didnt like the bags they seamed lighter and made out of some cheaper material, it took me forever to close the lids. A lot of the chrome on the bike seamed like it was made out of plastic. I did like the feal of the cruse control and the bike did feel right just sitting on it. I'm not downing the new nomad just pointing out my feelings toward it. So I looking to get me a 07 or 08.
