Very good information. Dehydration can be a very dangerous condition.

Hot Weather Riding Tip

Rode Saturday in 90+ degree weather with the humidity about the same... it sucked!

...and no... it wasn't because I rode a Harley... it was just plain unbearable.

...drank a lot of water along the way... but decided to do a whole lot of another type of drinking once I got to the hotel bar. I felt so much more refreshed!!

Hot Weather Riding Tip

About 4 years ago on a trip out west I found a way of really keeping cool..
The wife and I was coming back from California in mid summer. The temps were in the low 100's without a cloud to be seen. I always keep plenty on cold water in the cooler on the trailer, but the heat was really getting to us. Each breath was a challenge.
Then I got this bright idea! Every 50 miles or so we would stop an a gas station, get the water hose and stick it in our pants. Soaking the jeans and filling the boots up was a great cooler! The wind gives a great cooling effect and that helped a lot.

Well, after about 40-45 miles we would dry out then stop again and soak it up. We did that through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, then it started getting cooler as we went east.

Yeah, I know, it really sounds stupid, but the wife stayed cool and to me it made the ride more interesting.

Hey, whatever works for you!
It does bring a pretty funny image to mind...two riders sticking a hose down their britches....

That would be a sight to see!! I can almost picture the regular "cagers" looking on... "Those motorcycle people are weird!"
