3000 mile update on the GY TripleTred

Back about the beginning of August I installed a Goodyear TripleTred 205/60-16 on the back. It did take a little "getting used to" but now I'm VERY impressed with this tire. I have ridden in driving rain with rivers running across the road (remember all the rain we had in Georgia last month), ridden on just wet roads, ridden the twisties through Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, and not once did I feel uncomfortable. The tire out-preformed any Bridgestone, Metzeler, or Avon Cobra that I have had on the bike so far. The ride quality is vastly greater than any MC tire I've ran, and the handling is way better too. I'm not trying to influence any one into running a CT on their bike, just giving my honest assessment of what I've found out. I won't be going back to a MC tire............ Nuff said.

That is exactly how I felt. I now have 16K miles on my ct and I still feel the same.

How's the 205/60 GY TT fit Vulcan? I know, it's very close to the shaft tube. Have you seen any evidence of rubbing? By the time this SP 5000 195/60 wears out, I'll more than likely have to go with a 205/60. There aren't many choices in the 195/60 and the SP 5000 in that size has been discontinued. I was thinking about purchasing another and storing it but by the time I need it, it may be 4 years old. I'll just wait and see what happens and if the 205 is my only choice I will go with the General Altimax or GY TT.

Go get 'em Cliff: he said there is 2 credit card thickness to the shaft. Thats more than enuff. All is well assuming you can find a person to put the CT on your bike. Not many shops in my neck of the woods.

Cliff I think that is the tire I am going to use it is the same one as my wife's Nissan so maybe I can borrow one of hers

Switch out her spare tire and put your bike tire in the trunk as a spare!

The 205 fits just fine. If you roll the tire around and find the closest point to the swing arm, there is .090" (3 credit cards) clearance. Being a tool & die maker, I like that clearance because there is almost no way anything can get caught in there. After 3000 miles of some pretty good riding, there still hasn't been any rubbing. The only down side is that to mount the tire on the bike, you'll have to remove the final drive, roll the tire in, then re-install the final drive. No big problem, just 4 acorn nuts. I measured the tire width, and mounted on our 4 1/2" rim, with 30 psi, the tire is 7 1/2" wide at the widest point (sidewall to sidewall)

Cool Cliff, great looking tire! Started to go with that one when I did mine, maybe next time. Hope my bike last as long as my RT(HEHE).
