There's more than just height to being comfortable. Height, distance to the rider and grip ANGLE are all equally important. The most comfortable height is about shoulder level. The most comfortable distance should give your arms just the slightest bend (with your shoulders resting). The grip ANGLE should ideally be about 22* horizontal angle and with a very slight vertical (downward) angle.

The 12.5" DMyers bars I had on my Nomad were all of the above. The stock bars left my shoulders and back more than painful and left my hands/wrists alternating between painful and numb. Once I installed the DMyers bars, all of the above pain/numbness went away. It was like night and day.

Those bars look great , your bike is coming along quite nicely . Hope you can get out soon and try them out . I know exactly what you guys are talking about . I had a lot of pain/numbing all over . Changing my handlebars cured it all .

I hope your bars work out for you , but if they don't you could look at the Kromewerks bobber bars . I have the 14's but they offer 10" and 12" .

Cool, did you have to extend any cables with the 14's?

Yah , I had to do a complete tear down . I changed out all cables and hoses to steel braided . I plan on keeping this bike for awhile yet .

Here is the thread if your interested . http://www.vulcanbagger.com/forums/s...ghlight=14+ape

Those look real good. You notice a lot of flex in the 1" bars? I had 1" Yaffee Dresser bars on mine and did not like the flex in them.

With my bars I didn't notice any at all until I I got it up on the lift to change the rear shocks . By pushing it into the wheel chock . I don't notice any flex at all when I'm riding . I think it may have something to do with the way I ride . No body weight on them just hanging my hands off them . If that makes any sense .

I've been looking at the 1 1/4" bars with the same style and those look quite a bit stronger . They still have a 1" space where the riser is bolted onto but I'm not sure if the flex would be cured by the thickness of the bar . I'll have to do more research on that . They do look good though .
