195/60-16 SP5000. I mounted it myself and balanced it with 2oz of Dyna Beads. I'm very pleased. I have little more than 1500 miles on it. It handles great in the rain, dirt roads, and could very well throw you through the windshield in a panic stop!

Who's gone to the Dark Side?

wow.....almost 50/50 by the time you add the few that are planning on making the change.

Honestly my only concern, which might not even be valid, is insurance. I'd hate to get in an accident and have the inspector deny my claim because of the car tire. I think I might send my agent an e-mail, not mentioning a car tire, but just say that I'm replacing the rear tire on my Nomad for the first time and want to know if there are any specific tire that I need to mount. Maybe that way I can "get there permission".

I don't know, maybe I'm be paranoid?

You won't get your insurance company's "permission" for any kind of mod you make to your bike. If you had a claim the insurance company would have to prove that any mod was the causitive factor to deny the claim. That's my 2 pennies worth.

+1 also I doubt that most adjusters would even think to look at the tire and then notice that it is not a MC tire.

Your probably correct, but I'm just a little paranoid about taking that chance.

Who's gone to the Dark Side?

Utah,

Only you can be happy or not happy making that decision. We aren't here to convince you to do so. You need do what you feel comfortable to do. I never try to convice someone on the fence to do anything unless they are paying me back for money they owe me!!

Lots of Nomad owners modify their exhaust, intake systems and add fuel processors. Are these technically illegal to do according to the feds? yes and in most states too. Do we still do it anyway? Absolutely: why? because we don't consider this consequence when doing these mods. Nomad owners are tinkerers by nature. If anyone is hesitant on doing a mod for legal reasons then I recommend don't...move on to more bling???!!
