Twist the Throttle

A very cool new show that I just discovered. It is on Discovery HD Theater.

It is a one hour documentary series for motorcycles. So far each episode has been centered on one manufacturer. The first was Honda, missed it but have the dvr set to record rerun. The second (last week) was Ducati, very cool, and next week is BMW. If you get this channel I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. It is one of the best MC shows I have seen in a long time.

Here are the air dates:

April 13: Ducati
April 20: BMW
April 27: Kawasaki
May 4: Suzuki
May 11: MV Agusta
May 18: Bimota & Alpinestars
May 25: Yamaha

It plays Tuesday nights here but you may want to check your local listing because the air times on the website were different than my local listing.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to configure my DVR to record it.

For those of you who don't have HD tv, you can get them on line. They're not complete but you get about 18 min. worth. The Kawasaki is in 4 parts on line and can be found here:

Thanks for letting us know about the show, I would have missed it because I don't have HD yet.

I just watched most of a replay of the Ducati episode. Very well done show.

It was on at 4:00 Eastern Time.

I recorded an episode while I was out riding yesterday and just finished watching it. It was the Honda episode. It was interesting to learn how Soichiro Honda got started building bikes.

A side note here - one of the people shown talking about Hondas is a guy named Nick Einatsch, he writes for Cycle World magazine. I went to high school with him and his older brother. Who knew?

The history of the companies is interesting. The focus was on sport bikes, tho. Didn't see a cruiser in any of the episodes I watched.

Thanks for the link caddman. I don't get Discovery HD and was going to ask.

At first glance, the show is well done. I'll watch more.

I have something against "HD". I am surprised they didn't trademark HD and are now filing lawsuits against anyone or anything that uses HD on anything. Kinda like the potato sound suit. LOL!

I get these shows on the "speed" channel (Comcast).

Ringadingh....you need to get a DVR....it is so simple and convenient. It also gives me more time since I can fast forward through commercials from my Lazy Boy. I bought it thinking I would use it for sports but it turns out my wife (who was against it initially) uses it abut 10 times more than me so she can watch her chick shows + chick flicks. Instead of watching more TV it allows us to watch less TV since no commercials and not as much dead time flipping through channels or waiting for something good to come on. Record what you like and watch it whenever you want.
