clutch issue
completed the rear tire change/ swing arm lube, now everytime i start the bike it is like the clutch will not engage all the way, and the bike wants to take off with out me. While i dont understand how it could be related to the rear tire change, as always, any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean it isn't disengaging? Keeps moving even when you pull the lever? You said "takes off without me." Are you meaning the clutch lever is released and you are not n the bike? Is it in neutral?

Have you ridden the bike yet this year ? Are the clutch plates sticking from the bike being sat all winter ? Were you riding it before the tire change and all was well ?

Alot of strange symptoms occur after changing that rear tire as we have heard.

Either that or you need to bleed your clutch hydraulic system. The clutch should have no relation to changing the rear tire.

I wonder if he means the "lurch" when you put it in first. I would bet if he puts on some miles it will come out of it.

Ive had the bike for a year and ahalf logged about 15000 miles riding year round, i know what the normal lurch is from the plates stickin, but this is more than that. In gear, i pull in the clutch and start the bike, only to have the bike start moving on me, and it is fairly constant. prior to the tire change - no issues. Just got back from a long ride, let it cool and see how she does next. LOL Thanks for all suggestions

The rear tire change is like Jack said un-related...
The bike does this hot after a ride too?

it is a come and go thing, starting to think it is a more severe sticking problem than before.

All that comes to mind is a warped set of plates, and or a hydrailics loss of pressure some how, but that almost seems nutty.... UNLESS you have a very slight leak at the slave fitting in the line as another had, and or a slave leak at the push rod..
Go look for a damp spot at the left side chrome cover just behind the side stand. If there is it is brake fluid and get it off! Eats paint, draws moisture from thin air.... Lets say you start in neutral, lever in and shift to 1st. Hold that, and wait. What then happens next if you continue to wait?

I would suspect a hydraulic leak or the slave cylinder is going bad, not related to the tire change, just a coincidence. I would replace the clutch brake fluid and check for leaks to see if this helps first. then start looking at the slave cylinder.
