Anybody got this stand & use it?

I bought a stand/wheel chock from harbor freight and in their web page description they show a bike sitting out in the driveway and I thought this would be perfect for cleaning the bike etc. I was putting it together today and the booklet that came with it says in bold print, "The motorcycle stand must be mounted securely before use" and it goes on to tell you how to bolt it to a truck bed or into concrete.

Will I be risking the bike or myself if I do not bolt it down?

By its looks it may be fairly stable without being fastened, as long as you dont jerk the bike around

Could be a bit harder to get in and out of the chock with it not fastened, it may move around, but I think it should be fine. As Nightmare said, just don't move the bike around too much in it.

I have that stand. It is plenty stable without being bolted down, but with the with of the Nomads front tire it can sometimes be a challenge to back the bike out. A friend of mine has one for his bike also, he put the anchors in the floor that can be screwed in and out so it its easily removable. That's probably what I will do also.

Obviously from the picture, it's designed to be mounted securely in a parking lot! ???

Try it and see, it "looks" stable, if all you use it for is a way to stand the bike up for cleaning, etc. Be cautious, though - until you determine it's not going anywhere with the bike on it.

I have that stand. I use it in my garage. It takes a little effort to get the Nomad in it. It is pretty stable. Bike stays nice and upright. I do use 2 tie down straps to the eye hooks in the front for a little extra security. I use it all the time. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it

I looked at that one for my trailer, but the width wouldn't allow me to mount in far enough forward in my V-nosed trailer. I think I would set anchors in the floor to secure it.

I have that stand and played with it in the garage. My floor is to slick to use it with out some kind of anchors to hold it in place. I removed the stablizer arm and bolted it in my trailer. Now I can load a bike in my trailer by myself.

Make sure it's adjusted properly. :-[

This is from a good friend of mine. His brand new Victory Vision fell over when he didn't properly adjust his wheel chock for the tire size.

What holes are you using for your Nomad?

I have that same one that I mounted on my trailer, I didn't use the long bar I just bolted it stright down on the trailer floor, i do like it (knock on wood) my bike has not fallen yet. I use it just to steady the bike while I strap the hell out of it. I did do some small mods. to mine, I took and rounded some of the sharp corners off.

I am using the 3rd hole from the front. When I first got it I tried it on the first hole. I couldn't get the bike out. I had a friend push while I pulled. The third hole allows me to get the bike out but it still holds firm in the bracket.
