Revoming the solenoids and marbling

A friend of mine recommended that I remove the solenoids and that I put a marble in the reed valve. I did the marbling thing to my 900, but wanted to double check and make that doing both of these mods wont hurt anything and will be beneficial.

Will not hurt anything, but typically done with an exhaust change to address the popping on deceleration.

I did it to mine with Cobra pipes and the Caddmann mod, and have had no issues, other than a rough idle in colder temps (caused by the lack of the solenoids). Removing the solenoids gets rid of some of the noise too at colder temps as they open and close.

Cool thanks! I'm planning on doing the caddman mod as soon as I can dish up a little more $$ I've definitely spent my allowance for the next little while. :)

Gets expensive...all these mods. I ordered the 9" Spectre covers and filters from Ebay for I think < $15 each to do mine initially, total cost with a couple bolts and acorn nuts will be around $35.

I will replace the filters with K&N when I use chuckster's 7" plate, but now I am waiting to see if they get a left side plate before I do that, that way I can spend more money to prop up the economy. :)

I imagine I will go with a plate design similar to chucksters. I have resources to do it myself so I probably wont be buying one from him. This month alone I've bought my nomad and added a lot to it. It's tough doing it one step at a time because I know exactly what I'm going to add to it over the next 6 months. I want to just do all the purchases now so that I can fully enjoy it this season.

Yeah...it really adds up fast, doesn't it? I've had my bike since September 2007 and I still find new and creative ways to spend $$ on it.

And my stock will still beat you off the line. Lol

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure why my buddy recommended it to me.

I removed them and the idle was all over the place. So, I ended up reattaching them from now.

I did marble the reed valve and that help tremendously with backfiring.

Most people remove them because of the ticking noise they generate. It quiets some of the noise from the engine....some people it bothers, others do not even notice. I personally can't stand the clicking, so they are gone. The idle was only an issue for me during cold starts, so I can live with that. As soon as the engine warms up, normal idle.

Doc, what you don't appreciate good typo? Now I can read it just fine, but then I AM< the TYPPO KING!

Simply pulling the ISC's will not produce any more power, and stuffing a marble in some hose sure won't either.

The hose isn't even on my bike, nor are the ISC's, and a heck of a lot more stock heavy crap is all in boxes waiting for some poly tic who wants to wear all this bling in a dark personal way.

The thing is you need reasons.. and i don't know what your reasons might be.
