Head Light kits

I just bought a 2001 Nomad (my 1st bike) and I am thinking about adding some additional head lights. Can anyone tell me the best place to find the parts/costs and how hard is it to add the addtional lights? Thanks

First off, welcome to the forum.

If you go to Gadgets site, http://www.gadgetjq.com/gadgetsfixitpage.htm there are a ton of different options. I suggest you save this link to your favorites, because you will definitely want to visit it often for the information on it.

You can get Fire and Steel, Cobra, all types of them. Also, you don't have to use a light bar. I put Kury bullet lights on my crash bars.

First, welcome to the Nomad Nation from the (unofficial) Grand Canyon State! Please take a minute to visit the New Member Introductions area and introduce yourself to the forum.

Now what do you mean exactly by "additional headlights"? Do you mean driving/passing/fog (take your pick) lamps?

Something like these, maybe?

Or these?

I have both of these on my '07.

Welcome to the forum.

You are likely meaning you want to add a light bar? If that is the case, you have several options. Gadget's site has several options for making inexpensive options, and also all the wiring information I used to do mine. You need a basic understanding of wiring and should use a relay to install it (all covered on Gadget's site), but follow the instructions and it is fairly easy. Installing the light bar itself is usually straight forward for the ones I have done.

You can also check out the Cobra I believe they used to make one for the 1500 and likely can still find it somewhere.

Cruiser Customizing has a number of options for the 1500

There are also some options here

As for price, find one you like and shop around for the best price.

You might want to ask Lomax about his Wal Mart burners.

The Wal Mart Burners (50W halogen) are good for visibility, light, and looks. Cost about $16 plus they bolt right on to the lower deflector brackets in about 5 minutes. Wiring will take a little longer but everything you need is included in the $16. Will look like CatusJack's second pic.

BTW, Welcome to the forum, great place to hang out some.

I had the walmart burner on my 900. Not a bad route to go if your on a tight budget.

Ells, how is the power drain using the burners? I currently run a pair of 35W as my aux lights but can always use more light.

Power drain with a pair of 55w lamps is around 9 amps, compared to around 5 amps for 35w lamps. Definitely need to wire them through a relay using a dedicated circuit.

Thanks CJ. I don't have a voltmeter built into my bike so I don't want to put a strain on my system. I have been looking into adding a digital voltmeter from these guys. http://www.digitalmeter.com/

gghost, CJ has it. They pretty much need their own fused circuit, which I relayed off the bright headlight so they can't get left on and are on when I most want them, might want to add a separate switch too. The set comes with the fuse circuit and even fuse!
