Tax Season

For any of you who may dread filing income tax returns may I suggest using taxact.com

I have been using that site for 4 or 5 years now and I actually LOOK FORWARD to filing my taxes!

It is really simple, they figure everything out you, you just enter a few numbers and such and the state and federal returns show up direct deposited into your bank account within a few days.

Best of all its FREE! (They do charge 14 bucks to file a state return if that applies to you)

I just did mine today and I'm getting $3300 back yee-haw!

$3,300? There's a down payment on a new bike!

I assume that they can handle itemized deductions, etc?

Yes, infact you enter your itemized deductions and they will automatically determine whether the standard deduction or the itemized will give you a greater return and it takes that route

Wolfman, you are obviously new to this marriage thing. Your lovely wife is getting the tax return. ;) If you are real lucky she might allow you to have a small portion of it!

Thanks for the tip Wolfman. I used to pay a preparer, but after moving to Denver didn't know one, so we bought Turbo Tax. I would suppose the one you linked is pretty similar, and doesn't cost $60 every year.

The first year we were married we went to a preparer and when I saw that bitch was using Turbo Tax and still tried to charge me by a percentage of my return I freaked out and was nearly escorted out of her office. Bought it and do that myself now.

With the availability of the software I think it is a ripoff for anyone to pay a preparer unless you have a complicated issue like investments or a business.

Just my .02
Sorry if you are a preparer and I offended you.

Wolfman, Thanks for the link. I have been using Turbotax Home & Business for the last several years. I have to file a Schedule C because of my little gun business I run out of my home. Do you know if they can go this route? I spent $85 on Home & Business a couple of weeks ago. I may go with taxact next year. I will look into their site and may get my answer. Thanks again. Oh, good to hear from you again. Come back soon.

A friend from work said he did turbotax and taxact.com and got a better return from taxact. The nice thing is you can at least check it out to see what kind of return you'll get and you don't have to submit anything until the very end.
