No...here's why he don't work on the bike.

My hubbie is a wonderful fireman, good cook, does laundry, grocery shops but he don't work on my bike. Here's a couple of good examples why:

Example #1: While I was gone a couple of years ago to Vermont he decided to surprise me and put self canceling turn signals on my guzzi. Worked fine for a while but then the bike developed a short. Started out sometime they worked, sometimes not, then my brake light went out, then turn signals quit all together.....ghen Of Course the bike quit on me on a trip whilst going 75+ down the interstate. Took mechanic 8 hrs to find and fix the short after making comment 'boy somebody really messed up your wiring'.

Example #2: Was changing the oil on his Sabre. Putting in new oil.......only problem he had not drained old out first. LOL

Example #3: Early fall he and a friend decided to clean our central heat/air outside unit (water blast?). For several weeks now the unit has been making loud noises like a ball bearing was out or something. Repairman came out...found the problem right away. There was 2 plastic garbage bags inside the unit wrapping around the fan. Repairman wondered how that could have happened? umm......hubbie and friend put 2 plastic garbage bags over the motor while cleaning the unit....fine but left them in there.ROFLOL

'Nuf said. ;)

That's why I had Kawasaki put cruise control on the Nomad and when I decide what lights (highway bar etc) will have them do it.

Don't blame you for keeping him away from the tool box. Hope he doesn't work on Fire Trucks.

Don't be to hard on him. It sounds like his heart is in the right place :) That being said, I would keep him from working on the bikes also.

When I first started reading your post, I thought to myself, "This can't be as bad as unwind is portraying it", but, you're right, it is!

Drop the wrench and step away from the Nomad, Hubby...LOL.

That's when you, very sweetly, thank him for his efforts then lock the toolbox and hide the key.

Bless his heart .....don't know if you guys remember me telling about him moving my guzzi around in the garage and didn't put the kickstand out all the way. Bike fell breaking the mirror bracket. Ordered and got new bracket which sat around for months. He said it might be a big job because of the cables etc...

I finally got tired of waiting....one day put the mirror and the bracket in the saddlebag...drove to a local chop shop....guy walked out with a couple of tools and had new bracket on in about 7 mins and charge me $10. Drove home.....hubbie was out back working in the yard....I pulled up and told him I was afraid the longer that $80 bracket sat around more chance of it getting misplaced. He just gave me a peck on the cheek and said ' that's fine'.

Like some have said....we all have different talents....he's just not mechanically inclined............And no he don't work on the fire engines! ;) We've been a team since 1974 and wouldn't trade him for a million mechanics but I won't let him do any (wiring especially) tinkering to my bikes. :-*

We all know someone like that...Nico! He takes his bike in for everything, or uses duct tape.
