Honda's new "Chopper"

I had heard some rumors about this several years ago. Looks like Honda is throwing their hat in the chopper world. I personally think they will sell about three of these things. They went with the 1300 motor (I have heard the 1800 is dead). I was at the stealer this weekend and asked about it. According to him (and I don't put a lot of credit in this particular stealer) they will be asking 20k for that thing. I find that hard to believe when you can grab a Star Raider or HD Rocker for less and have more motor. Honda seems to be the one metric builder that just doesn't get the american cruiser thing. Even with the current economy, when it comes to choppers, Americans belive there is no replacement for displacement.

I have owned a Honda and I personally think they should stick with bikes like the Valk, which they discontinued. They should give up the v-twin thing and stick to bikes they build well. Anything other than the Rune would be great on the 'wing motor. I owned a 94 Magna which was a great V-4 cruiser. I'm not sure why they don't start developing more bikes like that.

Anyway here is the link if you haven't seen the "Fury" yet.

Honda's new "Chopper"

Honda has been out to lunch in the cruiser market for years. They are a great car company now ... that happens to have a motorcycle division. I would advise all Honda delegates at the next convention to throw their support over to Kawasaki ...

Honda's new "Chopper"

I guess beauty is in the "eye of the beholder".
1300cc, fuel injected, liquid cooled, shaft drive. Works for me, I like it.
Except for the gas tank...too small.

I've read lots of comments about the fury. Most comments are about the small tank 3.4 gallons for that 1300. Can't imagine getting more than 120 miles at best per tank.

To me, the Fury is underwhelming. There's nothing different, nothing compelling about it that sets it apart from the likes of the Raider. Having taken the Raider out for an extended test-ride, I would be absolutely tickled to have one in the garage. Can't say that about the Fuy. The world "blah" comes to mind - a generic custom.

I have not heard $20K - more like $13,000. Still, that's a bit much for a stripped down bike. But I'll bet they sell like mad.

I like it it's different mileage might suck but for some one wanting a custom look for more than half the price thats their bike of choice as for me i like to cruise in comfort and style so ill stick with my nomad.

I like it.

2010 Honda Fury

But I'll keep my Suzuki S83. You could buy them new for under $10K Cdn out the door. Although I think that Suzuki has discontinued the S83 (Intruder 1400) this year, ending 20+ years of production.

Honda's new "Chopper"

I can see it for the customer that might be fairly new to biking, wants the Chopper look, but doesn't have a lot of money and/or time. A little too generic for me, it just didn't grab me. Having had a couple of bikes now and spending some time making changes to them, I believe I'd enjoy doing a build or rebuild to get the same thing more. Then, I would feel like it was truly mine.

Honda's new "Chopper"

The pic posted in one of the above posts looks better than I saw on the link provided. It also looks like Honda could have made the tank bigger without comprimising the overall "look".

This bike reminds me of Chrysler's PT Cruiser in that the PT was a generic/retro version of an old "souped-up" panel wagon -- it had some of the look; but lost its luster in a very short while.

In other words; at first glance; kind-of a cool bike; but when looking longer at it -- it isn't the real-deal thus its appeal diminishes fast. JMHO

Definitely wouldn't guess it's a Honda at first sight. Kind of cool looking, although not very practical for me.

A blank canvas. If the price is right from the dealer, along with several choices, the accessories should sell well. Aftermarket could have a field day as well. A person who is adept with an air brush can let the imagination go. Definitely not a bike to keep stock.
