Man, that hurts....

Sometime around 11 O'clock this morning, I am standing in the parking lot of a large outlet mall off of Hwy. 290. I am there because I am at work. :(" title="" border="0"/> It is, what looks like, one of about 3 nice days we are about to have. The past 3 weeks have been just wet enough to keep me off the bike and I'm gettin punchy. Especially, since I was off last week and couldn't ride the entire time.

Anyway, back to the parking lot. So, there I am, minding my own business, when I hear the most beautiful sound in the world. I turn quickly, to see about 10 riders in formation, loaded down, and heading west toward the hill country at about 70 mph. The sight was glorious, but the sound of those bikes roaring off into the distance....excuse me :'(.....Man, that hurts!

I don't know how you guys in the north do it. My hat is off.

My teens know me too well. When I hear "that sound", they all know that I'm going to look. I am hoping that the future will offer me more opportunites to go for short rides--day trips maybe. I understand how you feel.

I do it because the only other choice I have is to move. That is probably never going to happen. Soooooo, I read things like you posted and cry along with you. The only difference is, you don't have to cry from now till April. :'(

I can tell you that it is a two sided coin. It is depressing as hell to have the Nomad tucked away in the shed for anywhere from 3 to 5 months depending on the winter. However it does make for excellent time for good maintenance practices. I don't have enough room in my garage to keep the bike handy all winter so my winter is planning for upgrades or maintenance and then first thing in the spring it gets done. Some others that have the space can tinker all winter which is why you will often see less grime and more upgrade on a bike from the north. We can't ride them but we can't keep our hands off of them either. Gotta be doing something all the time. I am currently working on restoring a venture trunk to mount on as soon as it comes out of the shed.

+1, TC... :'(

Man, that really IS the most beautiful sight and sound though, isn't it? I get caught staring all the time.

There's just something so RIGHTEOUS about seeing and hearing a bunch of loaded-up touring bikes rolling down the blacktop.

I didn't see one other bike out the other day when I finally got her out for a ride, it might have been because others had to go back to work while I am off till the 5th. Any decent day is an opportunity and if at all possible I get her out. I don't want her to get to feeling all cooped up :-/
