I've only had the Nomad for a couple of months and it's put away for the winter now, but I use 10w40 all the time.

10w40 in my Intruder too.

I only run Synthetic. In the spring I change to 20W50, and in the fall I change to 10W40. These are my 2 oil changes each year, and haven't had any flow problems.

Rotella 5w-40 full synthetic year round here. No clatter at start up any time. I have noticed Wal-Mart has raised the price to $23 a gal.

+1 like this oil works great in the Nomad.. Haven't been to Walmart in a while, last time I bought oil it was 18.00 and change a gal.

Maybe I will have to do some illegal volocity trafficking! Doh! I just remembered! I have a Blue/Silver Nomad. The fastest and quickest of all the Nomads! So I will just stay with the regular stuff.

Being a trucker I listen to the trucker's channel on XM radio. There was a gentleman who described the difference between synthetic & dino oils as such;

Go to the store & pick up a package of noodles. Place the package on a smooth surface & run your hand over it. Now pick up a package of spaghetti and run your hand across the strands of pasta. The difference is to show the improvement a synthetic oil lubricates over dino oils, not to mention improved viscosity & additive packages.

A 5w-40 will flow much better on cold start up than a 15-40 & you still have the 40 weight for protection in the heat....-Rich
