Just out of curiosity, what is the highest level of education you've completed?

I didn't go to college until my 30's, I thought it was for the "smart ones". When I broke my back I needed a new job (was a carpenter); I tried hard to find a new career that only needed a bachelors, but the job I wanted needed a Masters.

I could hardly comprehend doing six straight years of college, but it flew by. I wish I had done a bachelors at a young age so that I could have done the social thing (10,000 hotties all in one spot :) ). Then do a Masters when I was old enough to appreciate it with some life experience behind me.

If anyone is thinking about going back as an adult (or just as an immature old person :) ) I'd highly recommend it.

I started college when I was 29 years old. When I was in high school I didn't see the need for college, so I made no preparations for it. A few months after graduating I enlisted in the Marines. Still seeing no need for college, I turned down an appointment to the United States Naval Academy - a decision I have regretted for the past 30 years. If I had gone that route, I'd have been able to retire as a Colonel by now.

I didnt think I could afford college when I graduated high school, instead I spent 4 years completing an Apprenticeship as a Pipefitter. It wasnt until waaaaaay later that I went back to college (I took two classes in the fall of 81) and completed my AAS degree in Occupational Safety & Health last December, but not getting to "walk" until May of '08 proving that it is possible to squeeze a 2 year degree into 27 years. So I have the tech certificate as well as the 2-year degree. Another benefit to completing the degree is the demonstration of the importance of an education to my dear daughter. Where I could get by with out the degree her generation will find it much more difficult to do so.

Went thru my B.S. and M.S. right after high school. Don't regret the move for 7 years in college (applied engineering). Been done for 17 years and now I am thinking of going for my Ph.D. (somebody please knock me to my senses).

Waterman, after 6 straight years of college, I was surprised that I missed the academic environment so much. It all ends pretty abruptly.

I could be tempted to go do a PH.D. with you.

Hey, I'm still learning. I have a bunch of outdated certificates, but quit going to school fifteen years ago. I see there are a bunch of IT people in here. Me and Al Gore built this thing long time ago and it's still changing.

Not so bad for me at least. I have worked for a University since I completed my M.S. However, I haven't worked on campus for 19+ years.

However, when I do go to campus, I remember how much I miss it on a nice warm sunny day. Skirts and shorty shorts on the women.

I have a BS, an MA and MBA.

Started college right out of high school, but bounced around a lot trying to figure out what I wanted to do.

Wasn't until I transferred within this Japanese company, from Michigan to El Paso, TX. that I restarted my BS at Fort Bliss, (age 36) and finished it.

I'm actually thinking about a Doctorate in Management or Philosophy.

What are you talking about? You were right there with us!

I started college right out of high school but dropped out to go to the Air Force. Finally returned in '03 and completed my BSW in '06. I will complete my MSW next month.

Out of high school, I thought I might want to be a Chiropractor and went to school for 2 years, getting an Associates in Bio and minor in history. I took 5 years off and went back to school for a B.A. in American History, which I finished in two years. After that, I did 18 graduate credits at NYU in Communications, but ran out of money. 15 years later I received an M.S in Information Systems. At this point, unless I get someone else to pay, that'll be it for me.

Got a football scholarship right out of high school. Lasted only one year. Joined the Air Force. Earned a B.A in Criminology and an M.S. Human Resources Management just as I retired from the USAF. Found that a PhD would cost well over $50k, and didn't want to continue. I'm satisfied with living off three pensions and one current govt contracting job. Life is good. BnG
