Kawasaki 207 1600 Nomad clutch sticking?
I am a new bike owner and just bought a Kawasaki 2007 1600 Nomad. When I have the clutch in all of the way and shift to first the bike moves forward a little bit. Not a lot just a little. This is when the bike first starts up or after has been out being ridden for a while. Is this normal? I have read about working the clutch when you first start the bike up because the plates could be stuck. Also its not loud but but when I shift gears you can definetly here the transfer. All this may be normal but I am new and thought I would ask. Any help would be appreciated.

THE BIKE JUMPING A LITTLE WHEN FIRST PUT INTO GEAR IS NORMAL. IF THIS BUGS YOU WHILE THE BIKE IS WARMING UP PULL THE CLUTCH IN 2 OR 3 TIMES IT SHOULD SOLVE THIS. AND IT YOU WANT LESS NOISE OR A SMOOTHER SHIFTING GO TO A FULL SYNTHTIC OIL IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND HOW SMOOTH THE SHIFT IS. CONGRATS ON YOU NEW BIKE. YOU WILL LOVE IT HAD MINE 1YR 2MO 16,000 MI ON IT CANT GET ENOUGH. HAPPY RIDDING.

gadget: This is quite normal for the Nomad. especially first roll off. depress the clutch lever a few times then blurp the throttle just a tad and at the same time put her in first. it should reduce that lurch. Ride Easy

Since the clutch works off a fluid instead of a cable, there may be an air bubble in the line. Since air compresses and fluid does not, when you depress the lever, you may not be putting enough pressure to release the plates, giving you that little lunge and may even be causing the sound. Mine is an 05 and I have never had that problem. Not even the initial grab of 1st gear when starting out like most other bikes do. Since it is new, take it back to the dealer and ask them to check it out for you. Kawasaki does not put a 2 year warranty on these bikes just to ignore them after they are sold. I have had mine in several different times and all fixes have been 100% covered. Just a thought with the clutch.

I learned, almost, the hard way. I start mine in neutral and if it's been sitting for along time I roll it back and forth too. When rolling it you can feel the clutch "let go" which I assume is the plates seperating. The first spring after sitting all winter I started it up, in neutral. when I shifted to first I thought I was going to drive through the back of the garage. Be sure to "exercise" that clutch first and roll it back and forth to release those plates AND hold that brake.
