Squeaking on the rear end

I notice that the bike starts squeaking when I pull the clutch in and the bike rolls. The squeaking comes from the rear end and sound like it is the tire. It still keeps squeaking when I let go of the clutch. I had it at a Kawa dealer and he couldn't figure it out. Everything is greased up. What can it be? Is it something to worry about before I go on my 500 mile trip?
The squeaking sounds like it has something to do with the tire since the noise is consistent and repetitive. Am I making any sense?

Yes Scott, and since your rear end is not sqeaking you must keep it well lubed just like I figured it would be

If it is just a brake pad dragging a little, should not be a problem unless it continues more than say about 50 miles (a guess), or gets worse.

Squeaking on the rear end

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine does it on and off.

Squeaking on the rear end

Cougar, one way to tell is after you get started, and hear the squeak, apply the back brake. If the noise stops, it is the brake pads rubbing (nothing to worry about). If it gets worse, the pads are probably gone, and the metal plate is eating on your rotor, which means you need new pads. (quick) ;)

Squeaking on the rear end

Brakes GUYS! Think Brakes! I agree apply the brakes and see then if the sound even changes..

How many miles? Was the 7,500 miles service done if you are over 7,500 miles?

It seems to me the best no nuthin tech should know brake squeel when he hears it.. We all do..

Since the squeel is spped related the brakes are a great bet, but the bevel gear, drive shaft, and rear end gear can make squeeks.

And when was the last time the rear end gear oil was swapped out. There is a measely 6 ounces and a few tenth's in the box..

These guys are gonna go wild now I used lots of words they can play with. Really it would help if you girls didn't have so many like parts... alas, but you do...
