Stock Handlebars

Hey guys, I'm new to the nomad community. I just bought a 1999 and the person before me put ape hangers on it. I'm looking to get the stock bars back on. I went to the dealership and they want about $110. Is there an aftermarket brand with specs close enough to stock I can get? Anyone running something different then stock that there more happy with? Also does anyone know the stock rise, pullback and width of the bars? Thanks.

Hey Pin1head. I don't have the answers to your questions, but I just wanted to welcome you to the board. You'll really enjoy it here. Congrats on your Nomad purchase!

Hi, I have heard that some people fit Harley bars. Cant remember the style but they are cheaper than Kawasaki.

Don't buy from the dealer. Cheap Cycle Parts shows for a 1999 1500 Nomad:

SKU: 46003-1489 HANDLE 1 $69.60

Welcome pin1head to the board. Congrats on the new to you bike. My bike is an 02, I measured the bars and these measurements should get you very close.
Width 33"
Rise Approx 6"
Pullback approx 9"
Hope this helps.

I feel kind of funny calling someone Pinhead....but welcome to the board. Great people + great advice here! What part of the country are you from? How tall are you?

I am 6'2" with a long torso...I have a 2003. Even though I am on the tall side the stock bars do not have enough pullback for me so I ordered 3" risers from Chuckster @ $58. Several others have Chucksters as well.

Got any pics of the new ride????

Thank you everybody for the warm welcome. Ringadingh thanks for the measurements. Cactusjack I will look into cheap cycle parts to see what they want for shipping thanks. I'm an average size 5'7 build. I figured I'd start stock and if I need more I would add risers. I'm coming from riding sportbikes so anything will feel comfortable to me. I will add pics soon.

Oh, where are my manners? I didn't notice you were new to the group. Welcome to the Nomad Nation from the Grand Canyon State!

Here are OEM parts dealers I have had success in dealing with. They don't have the same prices, so check around and remember to add in shipping. I find that even with paying shipping, it's cheaper than the local dealer.

CJ,

Read before responding! His first words were, "Hey guys, I'm new..." Perhaps the beer can blocked that part. :)

Oh yeah, Welcome Pin1head from the Colorado Front Range

Not to mince words, but he said he was new to the Nomad community. It just didn't register with me. I was at work at the time, and I don't work in a tavern, so it must have been a case of cranius rectimus, not a case of Fat Tire that muddled my thoughts.

Welcome from Texas. I've had really good luck with E_Bay for other bike parts. You could also check salvage yards in your area.
