1700 Nomad Passanger Backrest vs. Voyager Backrest
Anyone know if the Voyager passenger backrest forces the passenger more forward than the Nomad's backrest? In photos it looks like it might. I'm considering upgrading to the Voyager but right now there's lots of room for the missus on the Nomad.

There was not much room between me and my wife on my Voyager.
There was lots of room on our 2005 Nomad. I am not sure if your 2013 Nomad differs in size from the earlier 1500/1600 Nomads. The lack of room between rider and passenger on the Voyager was the reason for some to change brands. |

It's amazing that manufacturers can't seem to figure some of this stuff out. I mean how hard could it have been to mount the top case a few inches back? Yamaha seems to have nailed it with the Venture however. It's looking more and more like I'll be on one within a year. I've been pretty happy with the Nomad for what it is and will be taking it on at least one more tour this summer, but I'd like to step up to a full dresser and it's starting to look like it won't be another Kawasaki.

I took the rubber vibration isolators out of the Voyager backrest and hard-mounted the backrest to gain half an inch or thereabouts, and then had an RDL seat manufactured asking them to keep me forwards a little - but yes, Kaw could have done a better job to make the trunk able to be moved to save me all that trouble & expense in finding room for my passenger.
It's a good thing we quite like each other still.
