Grrr! Oil on my pretty chrome!

Okay, after work I get off the bike yesterday and I notice a small bit of oil on the rear jug just above (and on) the exhaust header. So I'm thinking rocker cover gasket, right? According to "the rules" I have to pull the engine to repair this, although I know of a few guys who claim to have just lowered the engine to get to it.
Here's my question: Who here has pulled their Nomad engine? How rough of a job is it?
It's not too bad of a leak right now, so I'm thinking I may keep an eye on it and ride the rest of the summer, making it my first winter project.
What say you, oh wise Nomad Sages? I really need wisdom and foresight and I understand BD is full of it........wisdom and foresight, that is. ;)

Yep! That's me! Dole out the abuse and then expect kindness in return. :)
I'm kinda greedy that way.

If its the rubber plug leaking, some guys have cleaned the area really well and then put silicone sealer around the plug.

audio .....I pulled the engine on my brother in laws 99 about a month ago. It took us about 3 hours or so to get it out. Its not rocket science but there is a lot of stuff to take off. If there were some things that looked like it would be hard to remember, I took pictures. About your leak. Before I would pull the engine, I would try to tweak the valve cover gaskets a bit as its been reported the right rear does tend to leak earlier than other parts. Pull the tank and you can get at the bolts or just try to tweak the two or so you can get at on the right rear jug. Or maybe it's as Ringadingh saysand its cam plugs leaking. They can be fixed up as he says. Good luck!
Mike

Grrr! Oil on my pretty chrome!

Last year, I did an oil change on my C50T, and switched to Rotella T full-syn. I filled the crankcase and went in the house for something. I came back out and fired the bike up to circulate the oil so I could check it again after the filter filled up. I'm sitting there in my garage, and oil starts hitting me in the face, it's going everywhere! I forgot to reinstall the filler cap. Rotella T has a very distinctive odor. I thought I'd never get that crap off of everything. Before changing the oil, I spent about 3 hours detailing the bike. DOH!

Not the expert here, but I'd watch it for a while. Maybe a short but hard ride to see if it, or you, gets aggravated. Perhaps the tweaks to the cover as suggested above. A minor unchanging leak if not too messy or too consumptive might not be all that bad. After all, look what it did for HD :) In any event, its gottabe road-ready come July 18.

No worries Ells, I'm in for the 18th.
If it gets too bad, I'll fill my aux tank with oil and route it right into the crankcase. :)

Oh, oh, I know...because maybe I had too much BEER to drink while doing the oil change?

Look what happens to perfectly decent gentlemen after they have a "Rally."

Used to be nice and polite (except BD of course)!

Audio, I hope that I haven't developed a similar issue. I found some foreign substance on the engine near the exhaust. I'm going to keep an eye on it.
