Saddle bag stripes

I have an 02 Nomad. Has anyone ever replaced the saddlebags stripes with something other than the factory parts. A couple of mine were damaged by po and Kawy wants a fortune for replacements. Was thinking of something from automotive world but thought I'd check with gang here for ideas.

I have a set of the factory strips that I took off of my 1600 for sale. They are straight marked to where they go. Let me know if your're interested.

Thanks idh. I was hoping to replace all of mine with something black. What did you put back on your bags? What did you use to remove the sticky stuff?

I took mine off then cleaned the goo off with lighter fluid . Then bought some chrome moulding with the 3m adhesive on back cut to length and then trimmed with box cutter ( it took a few tries) it looks good .

I had one missing on the right side when I bought my '99 Nomad. They are stock, silver color. I bought silver pinstriping the same width from Auto Zone!

FYI this is the 'new' Gadget site: http://gadgetsfixit.com/articles/pai...ddlebag-strips

Not sure on the whole story here but it seems like the original author wasn't able to keep the site up and someone has saved all the valuable content and is rehosting it. The coding is better but the content is the same.

I also wanted to replace the strips but I'm not sure with what. My first instinct is to get rid of them but it would probably look worse with them 'shaved' off and just plain. Not to mention that would involve bodywork and all that. Luckily mine are still in good shape but I'm curious to see what people are doing. I have a few ideas but they're too much work and money for right now.

Fastoldguy, I used dental floss and fishing line after soaking with WD 40. Then just worked the remainder off using more WD and my finger nail. Did not replace with anything.

I removed mine and painted them the same as my pin striping. Much cleaner look in my opinion. I should mention I also custom painted the bike two tone blue/white with silver pin striping.

I removed the strips and like the look without them.
