Loud buzzing from crankcase just started

The Bike... 2000 Vulcan 1500 Nomad FI Classic

Problem... Just today it started this loud buzzing almost a whine sound
from ...I think the crankcase. This happens after starting, riding, stopped in
neutral and with clutch pulled in.
With bike off,put up on jack rolled tire in 3rd gear, did not hear anything.

Its only when it is running. Can anyone help before the stealership gets it?

. . (not so) Mikanic, lol

15000 miles , other maint. listed below.

Could be a number of things. I am thinking that your stator is possibly going out being that you say it "whines".

to make sure I am reading this right it only does it with the CLUTCH IN ? only after riding so motor is Warm / Hot ? I think there have been some clutch nuts come loose . But I have heard vac leaks with gaskets sucked in make funny sounds .Pretty low miles for cam chains etc. There has been at least one case of a 2000 model having a POG so if You go in to check the clutch nut check that while You are there .You might try to post a video of it . I would check for solenoid buzz also .

We need a better description of the noise. Is it only with the clutch pulled in? Do you hear it riding? Does it change with rpm?, etc etc. Take a piece of garden hose 2-3 ft long and probe around the engine one end touching different parts and the other up to your ear and you may be able to pinpoint the location better.

Yes it can be heard while in gear and moving, rpm does not affect it, same constant sound. Also heard while sitting still.

You need to use a mechanics stethoscope or a piece of broom handle and determine where it is coming from.

There are way too many possibilities.

Most bikes work the other way around.

Since it doesn't change with rpm that pretty much rules out the engine and gearbox. I would check all the tin on a exhaust, you could disconnect the regulator and start it. I would listen carefully and turn the key on listening to the fuel pump power up then open the fuel cap and start it up and see if you hear any pump noise. I had my chrome radiator guard touching the frame it buzzed pretty bad.
