I prefer the look of the Nomad bags better myself, and those HD bags look like they don't have any hardware on them. That will add a fair bit to the total by the time they are mounted on a bike.

That's true, didn't realize the hw wasn't included. I like the flhx bags, just saw those and thought for $300 might be worth a gamble one day..

I've thought that if anything happened to one of my '06's hard bags i'd love a set of quality leather semi-hard bags of a similar shape to the OEM's. i'm not at all fond of the side-opening OEM bags.

If your interested just for the look and not to replace damaged Nomad bags then I say just buy the Harley and stop pretending to have one.

No, but it just strikes me as funny that some folks buy Nomads and then they want to remove badges, change bags, turn down their idle, etc, etc, it would almost seem in an attempt to copy a Harley.
I say be proud of what you ride, it is a great bike and you won't be fooling anyone who knows bikes and those who don't wouldn't know the difference. While gassing up my v-star I once had a guy from two pumps over yell " nice hog man" and give me two thumbs up.

I'm sure this is an age old debate... I don't really feel like embarking in it, so I'll leave it here ;)

My pride in Kawasaki street bikes goes back to the 70s starting with a z1a 900 1974 then a I think it was a 1980 kz 650 just for fun but I rode it like an idiot lot of power and very lite will get you in trouble quick on to 2 kz 900s bought played with and sold then a 1000 j then put it down till about 8years ago could have any bike I wanted at this stage of life but went with a 1999 1500 Classic sold on Kawasaki wanted old school look and that is what brought me to the Nomad that is where I will stay as long as long as I can put up with the weight. Nothing looks as good as a low setting soloed out Nomad The lines and the Bags . Nuff Said !
