a good hiding spot

Hi there,
I was wondering ??? if anyone out there concerns themselves with having a spare key hidden on the bike somewhere in case you loose yours or your entire key chain. And if you do where is a good spot to hide it ? I'm thinking of putting a key for the ignition and the disc lock under the shroud below my windscreen. Somewhere where the forks and the wiring come together in front of the gas tank. Any ideas?
Thanks for any suggestions. ;)
Rick

Take off your taillight lens (2 phillips screws) and there is a perfect little place above the taillight reflector.

I seem to recall a thread some time ago on this where there were some good suggestions. I keep mine safe and secure at home where I know I can always find it, even if not too practical. Actually on trips, my wife will carry it.

Just make sure you don't lock your screwdriver in the hardbags!

I carry a spare ignition key in my wallet. I figure any place I hide it on the bike a crook can find it.

I always carry a spare on me. With my luck I'd hide it on the bike and the next thing I know it would be cruizing down the road with a wave and smile!!

It's easier to come up with a screwdriver than a spare motorcycle key.

I keep one zip tied under my right side cover. You need a screwdriver to get to it but it's pretty easy to come up with a phillips.

I give my spare to my wife. As long as I don't lose my key AND my wife, I'm OK.

When I'm by myself I keep the spare in the saddlebag, because I can open the bag without tools or a key.

Hey thanks for the response. Lots of ideas I hadn't thought of. I wondered if they'd be OK under that shroud I spoke of because I have one of those Xena XN18 alarmed disk locks and when the bike is on it's kick stand it leans to the left of course and if I hid them on that side, the alarm would go off if anyone tried to get under that side of the shroud because they'd have to turn the steering to get at them. What do you think of that theory? Please shoot some holes in that if you can. I just want to cover all the possibilities.
Thanks again
Rick
