Cobra Fi2000 Power Pro or Power Commander??

Hi guys, I'm going to be installing new pipes on my bike.
Most likely going with Vance & Hines slash cut duals.
2nd choice was Cobra billet cut.

Anybody know if Power Commance V or Cobra Fi2000R Power Pro is better?
The cobra intrigues me because it's supposed to be true "plug and play" no adjusting.
But I'm a "newbie" when it comes to this stuff.
Thoughts?

ABSOLUTELY FORGET about the Cobra unit. The PCV has the ability to allow the user to properly tune the engine. DO NOT believe the Cobra Kool-Aid, that unit is incapable of tuning an engine for whatever mods you have done to it as it has no way to monitor the air fuel ratio by analyzing the exhaust gas, which is the ONLY way to achieve 100% proper tuning.

I went through the same thing. I did a search of other forums for Power Pro threads. Found more Neg. remarks about it than Pos. But many of those were 2&3 years old. I don't know if Cobra got its act together on the P.P. or not. I haven't heard many PCV. complaints. If you just change pipes Dyonjet has maps you can load for your pipes & stock intake. If you add a BAK. you will need to Ask someone here with the same set up to send you the map they use. Or have your bike Dyno tuned. Or buy the Auto tune kit. On the Dyonjet site you can search for tuning centers in your area. I went with PCV. After I had ordered pipes & a BAK. I found most of the T.C.s near me are H.D. only. I found one 40 miles away that will tune a Vulcan, starting at 300.00. The auto tune kit is 205.00 from Motomummy.com I just noticed you are in CA. Doesn't Cal. ARB. limit what you can do to your bike? Dyonjet makes the Cal. ARB. approved PCV- EX. It limits the adjustments you can make to your F.I. I'm sure someone with more Info. on the Power Pro will pop in soon, as I said what I found looked like old Info. Good luck.

Started with the EJK, sold it and went with the Power Commander 5 which is far superior for the Vulcan 1700 application. Make sure you spend the extra $20 and get it with ignition control.

The Cobra Power Pro is poop. If you order the PCV Dont get the California EX version, it will limit adjustments in the rpm ranges you need it most,

I have no problems with my power pro. It's been on the bike since I bought it in 2013 with intake and exhaust done to the bike.

The same here, I have the cobra and have no issues whatsoever, just remember the PCV also needs for you to drill into the exhaust to install the oxygen sensor and it is critical that it go in the correct place.

If I remember correctly you are getting low to mid 30 mpg?

That is true ray. But the bike only got at its best 34mpg when it was stock. I have gladly given up a few mpg for the performance. Plus from what I have read here I'm kind of the cowboy here with the throttle. I have no qualms cruising at 80+ mph on the interstate, that plus my big windshield doesn't help either. Now keep in mind I have nothing bad to say about the PCV nor have I ever knocked the unit. I have thought about switching the power pro out just to see the difference. I'm just to lazy these days to do it...lol

I appreciate the advice, lots to think about, yeah Soouthern Cal is crazy, you're not supposed to do anything to your bike but where I live (which is mainly Harley Country) every single bike is modified... maybe I'll just stay stock.. just kidding

true but then every time you change something you are looking at a dyno run, which costs a fair bit, that is the main reason I stayed with the cobra at.

I had the EJK while going through my upgrade process, so I had the big 3 already done before changing to the PCV. I got a few maps from some members on the forums that were gracious enough to share. One member had precisely the same set up, his map was from a custom dyno tune, he lived in a state that was relatively same elevation and temps like here in South, FL. I loaded that map with a few small tweaks and my bike runs like a bat out of hell. At some point I will have RacnRay dyno tune my bike, but for right now I could not be happier. These bikes will let you know if you are running a shitty tune real quick.
