FI light is coming on

Hi Everyone,

Very interesting problem lately. I have my FI light come on. Then I put in some SEAFOAM or INJECTOR Cleaner and it go out. Does this mean they are getting gummed up and need replacement or just a GOOD cleaning.

I would add 5oz of sea foam to a full tank of gas and take it for a good run . If your FI light does come on again check the error code and go from there. Here is the how to on retrieving the code.

Warm the bike up then pull your air cleaner.

Using a funnel, pour seafoam straight into the intake, until it bogs and almost dies.

The bike will blow white smoke, like a mosquito fogger.

Then do it again and again until you've run about half a bottle through.

After wards use a toothbrush, or similar, to clean the plates and all of the surface you can get to with SeaFoam.

You should be good to go when finished.

Ok. So here is the low down. The light comes on, flickers, goes out, dims BUT the bike runs like there is nothing wrong. I have NOT experienced any loss of power or anything that would make you think that there is something wrong except the light coming on. Could it be a connector issue?

Read post #3. Ridefree posted a link on how to get the ECU fault codes. If you don't check for codes you're shooting in the dark.

NO fault codes. FI light is on medium brightness even after starting. Now what do I do?

Take the speedometer off and clean the plug where all the wires connect, perhaps you have a loose or corroded connection.

to Ring's suggestion . I would also check battery voltage . Should be just above 12v and over 13v when at idle . There are a lot of post here that explain how to test but I'm not smart enough to post the thread . Low battery voltage or dirty/loose connections can cause a lot of grief.

Good luck to you !

One other thing to check would be your atmospheric sensor, it's inside the right dog bowl, coming thru from the back. Unplug the harness and check inside it. Mine had about the same conditions your describing, and bike ran great. I found a little crud inside mine, cleaned it and put a little dielectric grease on it (about 6 years ago), and have had no more problems with it.

Thank you. I will try this and see what I find. The battery voltage is good as it STARTS every time with no issues.
