Motorcycle Parking

Was out to the grocery store in Woodstock and I usually park near the entrance in one of those areas marked by painted lines that have lines through them indicating it is not a regular parking spot (not near any handicapped parking). My parking preferences vary according to the situation and I got to wondering (there I go again) what other people did while out on their Nomads. I find that I usually like to park close to the entrance if there is open space that will not impede pedestrian traffic flow.

Pretty much park where I can. Biggest issue is where it can't get hit. If something isn't close, I will park further out for that reason.

Motorcycle Parking

Sometimes I park where I can find shade, although it's rare. At grocery stores/Walmart/Target, I usually park on the sidewalk near the building, if possible. I also like to park in regular parking spaces, next to a planter or some other obstacle that prevents someone from parking on both sides, then I move to that half of the space. I try not to create a situation where a cage can open their door and hit my bike.

I find most people avoid motorcycles like the plague. That's where the biker image works to our advantage. Maybe it's because I ride a big, menacing looking black machine? Maybe it's the human bones I have hanging from the bars? Maybe it's because I only bathe on payday?

Motorcycle Parking

I try to park where its protected, if I have a choice. I will park close if it doesn't interfere with anything. I work at a High School, Ive been there over 3 years now and not once have the kids ever bothered my bike. They look, but I have never seen them touch it.

I always park away from all other vehicles. The reason I do this is because I have seen a bike get hit in a Wal Mart parking lot. It was parked in a full aisle, and a car came cruising up the row and whipped into what looked like an open spot. Unfortunately, there was a bike parked in that spot, but it couldn't be seen because the pickup parked next to it covered it up. The car was traveling too fast, and it couldn't stop before hitting the parked bike. The bike was knocked over. I don't know how much damaged was sustained to it. The owner happened to be right by it, so I didn't stay to hear what happened. Therefore, I always park away from everyone else.

This depends on so many things.

At a place like Walmart, for instance, my first choice is to park somewhere that cars simply cannot go.

Heard on the news last night that there is an increase in motorcycle thefts (cuz of the price of gas) ..so maybe that should be a priority...park where it will have the least chance of being stolen?
