I can't believe I did this!

Hubby and I went to the grocery store the other night around 6pm-pantry getting low so we stocked up. I was driving. We got home - popped the trunk and started taking groceries in. He said I'll go back and get the rest of the groceries while you start putting up the stuff for the fridge and freezer. This was around 6 pm. Had to work that night. After supper and cleaning up dishes, walked the dog, took a bath, took a nap. Working the 11p-7a shift. About 10:30 pm go out to go to work. The car was sitting there in the drive .......still running ! Neither of us noticed it. It still had a little bit of gas left. It was not overheated so I just got in it and went on to work - but man - what 4 - 4 and 1/2 hours - man! :-[

Holy Crap!!! I don't think I've ever done anything like that. I have left the keys hanging in the door all day long at Hampton Beach, NH, but never running. Your car must be real quiet and smooth at idle.

My hubbe said he didn't notice it running when he went back out and got the rest of the groceries. I walked by it when I walked the dog....thought I heard a hum but it was parked right by the central heat/air unit and I thought it was that running. It's a Nissan Sentra.

You were lucky! A car down here would have been on it's way to a chop shop or in Mexico after that length of time.

It's good that you had to go to work
when you did or it might have been
still running, if it had enough gas.
!!!!(senior moment)!!!! ;)

Yeah I guess if I came out the next morning and could not figure out why the car wouldn't start...I would have never guess out of gas. :-/ Senior Moment...yep....guess that's why I have an AARP card. ;)

ToddI like that ' loud pipes saves gas'. Guess my gas milage would be lousy if I checked it.....er..0 miles per ?5-6-7 +gallons? Don't remember how much had in tank but pretty sure was a little over 1/2 tank...when discovered what I'd done - little under 1/4 tank left. :-[
