Vulcan Lunch Bagger review

Good morning! I feel it my duty to report that I have found a lunch bag that I like that I feel matches my Nomad and performs well. Your mileage may vary.

It is the Ozark Trail 6 can cooler. I got mine at Walmart for $6.

This has been a great Nomad accessory for me. It fits in my saddlebag even though it's pretty big and can carry a lot more than just lunch. It reminds me a little of the Oxford removable tank bag I had on my SV650S that was $140.

I like that the bag is covered in nylon (Denier 600?) and has a plastic liner inside to protect the soft contents. (I'm not sure if this armor is CE approved) I like how strong and beefy this internal armor makes the lunch bag look even when it's empty. I don't think the lunch bag is waterproof; more like water resistant. The plastic liner should keep most water away from your lunch but since it has no plastic lid I can't make any promises.

I considered an all leather lunch bag with buckles but decided against it because that wasn't the image I was trying to portray if you know what I mean. I want my lunch bag to say 'motorcyclist' not 'biker'.

The bag has lots of zippers for storage. There is a compartment on top that is expandable and could hold a concealed weapon. While the bag has lots of zippers there are no vents for obvious reasons.

I love that the bag is two-tone; silver and dark gray like my 2001 Nomad. It matches really well. At first I had bought an all black lunch bag but I found that it took me too long to get my lunch out of it. The two-tone is noticeably faster than the all black.

This bag also has two drink holders on the sides which could save you considerable dough over a Kuryakyn chrome drink holder as long as you don't need your drink while driving.

One area I feel this bag suffers is in carrying TV dinners. Obviously due to the standup nature of the bag a tv dinner has to be carried on it's side. If you leaver your tv dinner in there long enough it will start to defrost in there and the contents of one partitioned area (cranberry dessert thing) will run into your mixed vegetables. If you cook the tv dinner anyway and eat the sweetened mixed vegetables you will discover that it is delicious and all vegetables should come pre-coated with dessert.

Hi Gibby - no smoking over here. Just bored this morning so I decided to have a little fun.

That Victory of yours looks real nice my friend. I am a big fan of Victory bikes. I've ridden a few of them at the Americade demo rides. I tried the Vegas a few times and I think maybe the Hammer once. I really like the fit and finish and overall style. My favorite is the seat that dovetails into the gas tank.

Vic had a model for many years named the Kingpin. It had retro styling with large fenders and the seat dovetailed into the tank. Many Victory riders believe that was the best bike they ever made.

Gibby, it's interesting that you mentioned the Kingpin. For the past couple years I had been thinking of selling my Suzuki SV650S to get something more comfortable - maybe something like what my dad (Loafer) has.

Because I loved the Vegas but wanted touring equipment I started looking for a 'Vegas-bagger'. I found the Kingpin and started looking for used ones. I decided that 2006 and up would be a good starting point because you got the 6 speed tranny and 100 ci engine. But two things stopped me: price and volume. It seemed that I would be $6k-$7k and the saddlebags looked really small. Then I discovered the deluxe model which had a trunk.

Last fall I was ready to give up and throw in the towel on motorcycling. My SV was only worth $3000. so I would have to come up with $3k-$4k. to get the Victory. I called my dad and told him I planned to sell my bike and get out of motorcycling.

He found a semi-loaded Nomad for $3850. that I bought from a member of this forum. For a long time I had my heart set on a Kingpin deluxe but I'm glad I got the Nomad. It's a real nice bike that fits my budget and had already been mostly accessorized the way I wanted.

But I still have a soft spot for Victory.

Now let's be clear here, when you're talkin' TV Dinners, are you talkin' about the standard size Swanson TV dinner or the Hungry Man size ones? There is a difference! When I want a TV dinner I want a full pound of food, not those little piddlin' sized ones! 'Cause I'm a Hungry Man!
