Wow, that's the closest up I've seen one. We get lots of them here this time of year. They come to get the leftovers from all the cows after calving. (YUK !)

One of my sons lives about 3 miles from me and the community he lives in has a large man made lake. The lake draws a lot of birds, including ducks, geese, herons, pelicans (in the desert!!), hawks and at least one bald eagle. I was driving on the bridge over the lake a couple of weeks ago and the eagle swooped right in front of me. Beautiful bird.

If it is survival of the fittest the little guy on the right better start paying more attention or he isn't going to make it

The are so many eagles along the Mississippi River near the town of Red Wing, MN that at times you can look up and see 20,30,40 or more hunting. A few years ago I was riding south on the Great River Road near Red Wing when an eagle swooped down from behind me and flew directly over my head and snatched up a weasel that was running across the road. By the time it was airborne again I missed hitting it by only a few feet. To this day that is one of the coolest things I have seen while riding, other than the occasional topless girl sunbathing.
