Wow, I would think that with all the scrutiny going on about the police using too
much force. That they would try to use their stun guns more. Just wondering.

According to the story, they did try the stun gun but it was not effective. They don't always work. If a guy has your gun as one of the officers claimed, the only reasonable response is deadly force. Unfortunate for everyone involved.

Just shoot them in the leg like the Boston cops do. Then there's no martyrs.

If he did actually take the officers gun then I have no problem with the outcome.
That being said, the LAPD has a history of corruption and excessive/deadly force.

Seriously, if a guy has a gun you are going to shoot him in the leg while he shoots you in the chest

If the guy had/got a gun the outcome was inevitable. Taser wasn't affective. Never argue with a person with a gun unless you have one also and are willing to use it. Cops have a right to protect themselves also.

They did it in Boston last week. Cop was shot in the shoulder and his partner shot the person in the leg.

Maybe they need to put down the donuts and go to the range. Poor shots?

Play one of these for dramatic effect. Know what happens when you take a cops gun?

Breaking the law is like stepping on to the football field...you have accepted the risk of injury...even a fatal one. Don't break the law!

I can see from the news media there already the loud voices calling for the heads of the officers who were forced to defend themselves. The problem is based with the offender who failed to comply with a lawful order, then attempted to grab the officer(s) gun during the struggle. If he would have complied, he would have at worst, been arrested and spent time in jail. Instead, he chose to end his life. I haven't been on the forum in awhile due to other commitments, but for those who are not familiar with my posts, I am a patrol sergeant in the Kansas City area. As such, law enforcement officers are trained to respond to not only protect lives, but to save their own as well. I carry a Taser. As demonstrated in this case, as well as many others across this country, the Taser is simply a tool! It doesn't work each and every time. Llikewise, when you spray spomeone with OC spray, or fight them hand to hand... it does NOT always work! When an officer deals with someone who is bent on taking the duty fireamr away from the officer, it is NOT to put it somewhere for safekeeping. They are bent on killing or maiming the officer, or the pubilic. I am sorry... you try and take my weapon from my holster, you WILL die. I do not shoot to kill. I shoot to live! It is our job to protect the comunities we serve in and live in. If these officers violated the law, then I will be the first to demand justice. However, if they are cleared from any wrong doing, then no... I will only feel glad these officers were able to end their shift and go home to their families. I have buried too many close friends and co-workers who died keeping their community safe from the criminal element.

Thing that pissed me off most about this when I heard it on the radio going to work was that the Canadian news sheeple here try so hard to be politically correct that they called the homeless guy an "African American". Give me a frickin break! Black, white, red, brown or yellow. If you play with the bull you're gonna get the horn. He was obviously deranged & if the taser didn't work he may have been high on something. Go for the cops gun? If that's what happened (and I tend to believe the officers first) then he got what he deserved...... and maybe wanted.
