Hawaii anyone?

The wife and I are thinking of relocating soon, and Hawaii was on the list of places to move to. I was wondering, anyone on the site live out on the islands?

I lived there for 2 weeks year before last!!! loved that!

Have a friend that lives there and she likes it. But heard from many mainlanders while we were there, that it gets kinda old after a couple years.... because it is an island and is only so big...and takes forever to get anything you need that is not "common", like parts, etc. Cost of living is high, way high.

I would sure like to try it for a couple years though!!!!! If you are still gonna be in the service I think it would be an excellent choice for short term and then you may like it enough to stay permanently.

Stay safe over there in the desert and check in with us often!!

My son will have been stationed there 3 years come August. He is at Tripler and is in the barracks for Tripler but has done some assignments over at Schofield. He hasn't heard yet where he is going next - back of my mind I wondered if they might just want to keep him there - I hope not - we're ready and he is too for him to come back to the mainland so we can acutally see him more than once a year.
